President’s Remarks- none Career Tracks- Toni Higgs Physical Plant updates- Jeff Smith Starbuck & other food vending in BRCHS building- Dr. Sapienza Orthodontics parking for Wednesday’s needs consideration- Dr. Sapienza Other- Area reports Jeff Smith- Physical Plant - Work order site should be working; site would send receipt confirmation but not actual work order number; should also reduce duplicate tickets received Aramark received 1100 work orders in August, completed 780 Working quickly to address A/C issues in various buildings Staff Concerns: trees, restrooms, ants, ceiling o Tree specialists will visit annually as concerns continue with fallen trees o Ant issues: Terminix comes to campus weekly o Restrooms in Kinne & Fitness Center need attention; Fitness Center already addressed o Ceiling in recording studio looks as if it will come down on new equipment- Jeff will address issue Dr. Sapienza- Brooks College of Healthcare Sciences - 130 Baptist members visiting on September 2nd DCOB Starbucks gets swamped with DCOB students and BRCHS students- Dr. Sapienza requested more vending in BRCHS Grant for GRASP school- will be sending two faculty and some students over to complete reading assessments Ortho Faculty member Professor Kate Litschel passed unexpectedly on Aug 1st Professor Hasenblaus featured in US News about students and cell phone use Working on creating a donor wall in BRCHS Kim Jones- Alumni and Advancement - Six events this week across the country 70 registrants for HC and Family weekend already New Staff member starting on September 28th- Shawn Wood form Clarion, Dir. Of Major Gifts for Athletics New signage for BRCHS coming soon- naming of BRCHS & ribbon cutting event 9/21 @ 8:30am, over 100 RSVP’s from Brooks already Donor report is a work in progress but should be out in the next 3 weeks President’s Parents Council has 15 families- gained two this summer Less than 10 nominations for Distinguished Alumni awards Day of Giving will occur in April- Advancement and Marketing had 100% participation and were invited to Dr. Xu’s place for a meal - Village Apt 6 will be renamed Rutherford Hall after Will Rutherford; look for invite Margaret Dees- Admissions & Marketing - 507 new first year students enrolled; we only had a 14% melt vs the 25% melt we had last year and the national melt percentage is 10% Transfer enrollment up significantly ADP enrollment doubled New Chief Admissions Officer may be introduced this week Three positions open in Admissions; two more may be available soon Completed a recruitment study and determined there are 538 schools we should be targeting for recruitment Wave magazine coming out soon Interviewing for a position in marketing now Dr. Henry Rinne- Fine Arts - 109 to 135 Fine Arts majors (enrollment is up in their area) Looking to expand dance cohorts Gallery Opening on Thursday Professor performance on Friday at 7:30pm The Nanny Lead male actor will be on campus to speak with students (Peter Marc Jacobson) Consider joining the Friends of Fine Arts Dr. Matrecia Jones- DCOB; Dean Capener is out - 14 new EMBA students Faculty approved food industry degree Accelerated MBA is now at 45 students which is twice the size it’s been Hoping to expand masters programs Diana- President’s Office - Thank you’s for Midnight Million Dollar Moonwalk; huge turnout at roughly 725 students Dr. Xu- Provost - Great job on matriculation- personally received two thank you cards from new parents Stephanie McLarty is now her Executive Administrative Associate; Stephanie Ross is still here September 14th team from China visiting Reorganizing the library staff FSCJ collaboration on pathway program coming- hopefully will attract more students from there Looking into how we can integrate more technology in our learning Terry Devlantes- EPIC - EPIC Projects o Video production room is in Council 143/144; almost complete o Finishing science lab upgrades o New tables in Gooding 113 - o Upgrades to Terry Concert Hall coming soon o Creating EPIC video for Homecoming Working on Bike Share program with Will Baxley Youth Crisis Center is looking to expand its services and has been working with BRCHS and with Professor Barkley on their PR Working with David Healy on university’s physical master plan Toni Higgs- Career Development - New workshops coming soon New staff member joining her team- Jeff Morris will begin on September 16th and he will focus on Employer Engagement Fall Industry Networking Nights are set o Eight FINN’s on Tuesday’s and each will incorporate a small expo with employers at each Toni has an onsite space in Athletics on Wednesday’s from 1pm on as needed David Healy- Chief Financial Officer - - - He will be reaching out soon to department heads about budgets Small issues with the chiller plant Lots of mundane tasks on the docket o Making sure we are ADA compliant o Working on golf cart issues Bank transition- make sure everyone knows that rule changes are because of the bank and it’s not coming from Liza’s office; looking forward to building a partnership with Fifth Third please be patient Look forward to a neat offer from Aramark- potentially offering faculty/staff one meal a week to be used in the Riverview Café during the academic year Still working on physical master plan Dr. Kristie Gover- Chief Student Affairs Officer - Switching gears to Emergency Preparedness- we are set to launch any emergency plans if needed; Kevin Bennett is currently at an Active Shooter conference Opening of North Hall has gone really well Echoes matriculation success- reviewing changes to beat the heat Fraternity & Sorority Life recruitment begins this week Circle of Green & Gold (engagement initiative for small group of new students) had reception on Monday, Aug 31st that went well; roughly 20 students in group North Hall has Academic space- hopes to have a faculty space added; space would work great for JU 102 instructors Dr. Logan Cross- Institutional Research - Open Session on TRAC Dat & institutional planning at 4pm in Stein Board Room on 9/2 Two sessions next week in DCOB (no specific times provided)
