Of the project “Eco bag”
Within the Northern Forum “Schools Partnership”
Idea: replace the use of plastic bags in the bags made of natural materials. Plastic bags are a real threat to
the environment. Plastic bags do not decompose within 100-200 years.
1. General Terms
The "Eco bag" is aimed at students in grades 1-8 (7-14 year olds) for creation of bags from
environmentally friendly materials.
Organizer: Municipal General Educational Budgetary Institution “Yakutsk City National Gymnasium”
(YAGNG), Yakutsk, the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), Russia
Goal - formation of ecological culture of pupils, teachers, parents and the public, disclosure of creativity,
educational and research abilities of children.
Tasks - to focus the interest of schoolchildren to the problem of disposal of solid waste, prove the
practicality, durability and safety of eco bags for environment, instill life skills in eco-style.
2. Participants
7-14 year old students (Primary school, grades 1-4 and Secondary school, grade 8) of educational
institutions together with parents and teachers.
3. Technique of prints on the bag and theme: at authors’ discretion
4. Dimensions of the eco bag
No fixed size.
5. Materials for the eco bag
The eco-friendly material (cotton, wool, horsehair, bladder of cattle, pigs, fish scales, etc.)
6. Dates: November, 2015 – March, 2016
7. The result of the project "Eco bag":
 Use of eco bags in everyday life.
 Local action “Eco bag”
 Report on the action as a presentation in English (and Russian).
 Virtual exhibition on the local school site and sites of YAGNG, the Northern Forum and the
participating regions.
 Certificate of project participant.
8. Conditions of participation
 “Eco bag” action materials are accompanied by the following annotation in English (and Russian).
 Theme of the action.
 Educational institution, grade. Full name, age of child participant (for individual work)
 Natural material.
Recommendations on the creation of the eco bags:
1. Availability, environmental friendliness of source material
2. Compliance with safety regulations.

Information on the Northern Forum
The Northern Forum activity is aimed at solving practical problems through cooperation, exchange of
experience, knowledge and technology. The Northern Forum brings together the northern regions of the
world to improve the quality of life in the North.
The project of the Northern Forum “Schools Partnership” is conducted from 2008 on the basis of Yakutsk
