CLASSROOM LIBRARY CONTRACT You are a lucky student in a classroom with a tremendous classroom library. Our classroom library is building all of the time, and currently boasts over 500 titles. All students in rooms 22, 24, and 26, are invited to check out books from my classroom library throughout the year. It is imperative that we all take good care of our books so they can last for many more years to come. All of these books were bought with love (and Miss D’s hard-earned paycheck). As your parents always say, “Money does not grow on trees”, and this is true. Therefore, in the strange and unexpected case, where a book you borrowed has been lost, stolen, or scarfed down by a creature from the deep, it is your responsibility to replace that missing book, or provide the funds to replace it, so other students will have the pleasure and opportunity to read that book as well. All books must be signed out with me and returned to me, to help maintain accurate records. I also ask each student to only take out up to 2 books at a time and to care for the book as if it were their own. Books will be stored in a plastic protector to help protect them as they travel to and from school. You will be REQUIRED to keep the protector in your binder and bring it to Reading class every day. You will have the opportunity to exchange books once a week on an assigned day. Thank you so much for respecting these wishes. With your help, we can continue to add more wonderful books for your enjoyment, rather than replace lost books. Before I can allow you to sign this out, I ask that you and your parents sign and return this form. It will be your ticket to the library! Please detach the sheet below and return to school by Friday, August 12th! Happy Reading! Miss D ☺ -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------We have read the information above, and understand that classroom library books should be brought to Reading class each day. In addition to these instructions, we understand that missing books must be replaced at the cost of the student.
