POSITION TITLE: Exercise Physiologist –Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab/Stress Testing RESPONSIBLE TO: Director of Specialty Services DATE: July 20, 2014 JOB SUMMARY: A staff Cardiac/Pulmonary Rehab/Stress Testing Exercise Physiologist is a staff member who directs the cardiac/pulmonary rehab patients exercise regimen assigned to his/her within the scope of his/her degree. They also assist in the Stress Test Lab under the direction of the Stress Testing RN. The staff exercise physiologist is responsible to the Nursing Director on the unit to which he/she is assigned. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work environment is located in a comfortable indoor area. Conditions such as noise, odors, cramped workspace and/or fumes could sometimes cause discomfort. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: Graduate of accredited school with degree in Exercise Physiology Appropriate intern experience preferred This individual should be knowledgeable regarding growth and development and assessing the physical and psychological needs of patients in the following stages of life: early adulthood, middle age, and geriatric. ACLS and BLS certified or obtains within 6 months of hire Accurate recording of patients exercise and effort as well as appropriate monitoring of vital signs RELATIONSHIPS: Reports to the Director of Specialty Services. Implements patient care according to planned exercise program to attain the patient’s optimal level of function and documents according to policy.
