Festrausch (1994 - 2014)
It is with great sadness that Cazenovia College and Hilltop Farm share the news of the
passing of Festrausch last month in Cazenovia, NY. A dynamic personality with world-class
movement, this special stallion has left an undeniable impression on all who've come in
contact
with
him.
The handsome son of Florestan was an early winner in Materiale classes in Germany.
Under Dr. Ulf Moeller, Fest...rausch placed 4th at the FEI World
Breeding Championships for Young Horses in 1999. He was
purchased by Hilltop Farm in 2000 and paired with Scott Hassler
for the remainder of his career. Approved by multiple breeding
associations, Festrausch had a very positive influence in North
American breeding. He sired an approved stallion, multiple
Premium mares and foals, Devon Champions, and USDF AllBreeds winners.
Late in 2010 Festrausch moved to Cazenovia College. He spent
the last four years continuing to breed, but most importantly, he
has also helped educate the students in Cazenovia's Equine
Reproduction courses. Festrausch considered the Cazenovia
College Equine Education Center his domain and it seemed only fitting that he had an entire
'staff' of students to fulfill his every need. Assistant Professor Carol Buckhout and Farm
Operations Manager Stefani Watson and the College staff oversaw every detail and need
for Festrausch's comfort, health, and happiness throughout his time at the College. For all
who have shared in Festrausch's life, his spirit will be greatly missed.
