To check the home task. Type of the lesson: consolidation lesson Overview and purpose: Review ‘I have got’ and ‘I haven’t got’; Speaking and writing practice. Materials for the lesson: paper, pen, one set of cards for 2 or 3 sets. Objectives: SWAT write 4 short dialogues using school / home objects and ‘have got’ or ‘haven’t got’ Procedure of the lesson: Introduction: Review the vocabulary: pen, pencil, book, table, chair, computer, watch, ruler, calculator, eraser, bike; (5 min) Presentation: Now pupils make a few statements about some objects you have got, holding them up to show the students.’ I have got a pen’ ‘I have got a book’ etc. (teacher writes ‘I have got …’ on the board). Then repeat with ‘I haven’t got a …’ Emphasize difference between ‘have got’ and ‘haven’t got’. Ok pupils let’s revise the dialogue: A: Have you got a …? B: Yes, I have. I have got a … or No, I haven’t. I haven’t got a … The next task is to fill in the blank with an object from the Introduction. Do chorus work and focus on pronunciation. We go through some conversations, I read line A , now pupils answer the question do you have some of the objects from the introduction. (Then have students say line A and have them ask teacher questions. Finally have a few pairs of students do the dialogue) Practice: Ok students let’s play the game ‘Have you got a …?’ I explain the rule. It is similar to ‘Go fish’. Three players get 3 cards each; the rest go in a pile in the center. Players try to make pairs of cards. They take turns asking another player, ‘Have you got…?’ The other player responds, ‘Yes, I have. I have got a …’ and hands over the card, or ‘No, I haven’t. I haven’t got a …’ and the player who asked draws a card from the pile in the center. When students have a pair, they put it down on the table. The first person to get rid of all their cards wins. (15 min) Production: Work in pairs. Write 4 dialogues based on the dialogues used in the practice game. (5-10 min) Assessment of students: Give marks. (3 min) Homework: Write 4 dialogues asking if someone ‘has got’ something and giving a response. Students should use the vocabulary from the lesson. (Pilgrims on boat waving as they leave the harbor.) They thought America would not be far away, but it took them 66 days to travel across the ocean. (Pilgrims acting seasick on boat.) But in December, 1620 they finally arrived in America. (Pilgrims celebrating.) Pilgrim: We’ re finally here! Pilgrim 2: It’s so beautiful! Pilgrim 3: Let’s call it Plymouth after the city we left from in England. All pilgrims: Okay! Narrator: But the pilgrims’ troubles were not over. Since it took so long for them to arrive in America it was already winter and they had no food. Pilgrim 2: You said we could plant crops when we arrived. But the ground is too cold! Pilgrim 3: I thought it would be warmer. It is never this cold in England. Pilgrim 1: I am so hungry! What will we do? How will we live? Pilgrim 2: Who is that? All Indians: (arms folded): How. All pilgrims: How? Massasoit: Me big chief Massasoit. Indian 1: We Indian tribe Wampanoag. All pilgrims: It’s nice to meet you. Narrator: All through the hard, cold winter the pilgrims hunted deer and caught fish, but it was not enough and many people died. (Pilgrims hunting and fishing, but looking cold) Pilgrim 1: Look I caught a fish! (Pilgrims all oooh and ahhh and eat the fish together). Pilgrim 2: But I am still hungry. All Pilgrims: Me too! (Indians hunting and fishing and dancing around the campfire.) Indian 2: Look, I have invented a way to keep corn all though the winter! (Holds up can of corn) All Indians: Wow (Ahhhing.) Narrator: In the spring the Indians kept their promise and taught the Pilgrims how to grow crops in America. Pilgrim 3: What is that? Pilgrim 2: It is called corn. It is easy to grow and very tasty. Pilgrim 1: (eating the corn): I like it! Indian 1: and this is called a pumpkin. It is also very tasty and easy to grow. Pilgrim 2: (Looking at pumpkin and suddenly laughing) if you carved a face in the pumpkin it would be very funny! (All Indians look worried) Massasoit: I think he is crazy. Indian 2: I think it is because he is so hungry. All Indians: agreeing and saying yes, yes. (All Pilgrims looking at pumpkin and laughing and acting like ghosts.)
