TO BECOME A “CERTIFIED” TENNIS OFFICIAL
1. Must have a current USTA membership. 2. Have a correctable 20/20 vision.
3 Complete a Background Check. 4. Take and pass an (open-book) USTA Official’s Test.
5. Attend an Oklahoma Tennis Official's School.

6. Contact your District Chairman to learn about upcoming events and officiating opportunities.

2012 USTA School Announcement
EXPERIENCED OFFICIALS (Been “Certified” for 3 or more continuous years)
1. ALL tests can be found ‘online’ in the USTA Official website (usta.com). Tests are to be taken, open book using the “2011 Friend
at Court”, with answer sheets submitted to USTA for grading. This must be done PRIOR to coming to school.
a. Bring your Test Answer Sheets to school. You will have opportunity to question missed answers.
b. The USTA Officials test has 101 questions, the Referee test has 60 questions and ITA has 50 questions.
c. If you did not take the test ‘online’, submit the answer sheet to the USTA for grading, and bring the answer sheet to school before attending the
class, you will be asked to leave and to attend another school when you have completed the test.
2. Schools for more experienced officials would be one day.
a. A school would consist of a USTA Officials school from 8am-noon, an ITA school from 1pm-3, and a Referee
school from 3pm-5.
b. This school would be for anyone certified for 3 or more continuous years.
3. Pre-registrations are required for schools.
a. Registration forms shall be sent to Host/Instructor by the deadline dates mentioned on the application.
NEW & LESS EXPERIENCED OFFICIALS
1l A school for new officials and those certified for less than 3 years would be one day, 9am-4pm, and would include classroom and
on-court instruction.
a. New officials are not to attend the Saturday referee or ITA certification schools.
b. Any Official with one or more years experience who want the Referee and/or ITA certification are
the school for Experienced Officials.
2. Pre-Registrations are required for schools.

Dates & locations have been set for 2012 Certification and Re-certification schools in the Oklahoma District. Officials who have been certified for three (3) or
more years can complete all their schools in one day, NEW Officials and those with less than three (3) years of continuous, certified experience, will attend a
different one-day school.
Before you come to school, you must:
1)Download/print the test(s) and answer sheet(s) from usta.com/AboutUSTA/Officials. There are 4 tests:
a. Provisional Test: Only NEW officials can take this test. Use the ‘2012 Friend at Court.’
b. USTA Officials Test: All Officials MUST take this test. NEW officials should take it, also.
c. ITA Test: All officials, except NEW, who want to become Certified to work College Events.
d. Referee Test: All officials, except NEW, who want to become Certified to become a REFEREE.
Tests are open book, using the 2011 Edition of Friend at Court.
NEW officials taking the “Provisional” test; use the 2012 Edition of Friend at Court.
2. Submit completed answer sheet to USTA for grading. Score will be sent to you immediately.
3. Complete your background check
4. Bring your test(s) and answer sheet(s) to class for discussion
