As you have followed Tom through his adventures living on the streets of Calgary you have been meeting new characters and learning about different places Tom hangs out. Your ongoing task has been to maintain character webs and build a map. Now is the time to complete these items and submit for assessment. The following items need to be submitted: 1. Character Web 2. Character Sketch 3. Tom’s Map Character Web’s T/I / 25 In class we set up how to create a character web. The purpose of the character web is to identify the traits / characteristics of the characters in the story. Remember these are not physical traits of the person. The focus is to provide descriptions about who the person is or what they are like. Words such as caring, kind, spiritual, intellectual, all describe who a person is. Your character web is to include: The name of the character in a box in the center of the page o Inside the box, include a picture of what you think the person might look like Trait bubbles connected to the character name box Inside each trait bubble include: o Trait – provide descriptive word o Proof – specific text from the book with page number that proves the character has the trait o Explanation – describe in a sentence how the text demonstrates the character trait identified Individually you must submit character webs for the following: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. It would also be a good idea to review the character sketch you submitted for assessment so you can ensure you include what you did well and improve on the areas that were weak. The character sketch should include: Introduction Paragraph o Name the character o Title of the book o A description using adjectives of the character o List the three character traits Body Paragraph o Individually explain the three traits o Quote text from the book and include the page number. Ensure you follow correct formatting.
