Open air festivals in the Mullerthal region Located in the east of the Grand Duchy, Echternach is not only the eldest town of Luxembourg, but it is also famous for its unique Dancing Procession, recognized as World Heritage by UNESCO. Between 9 and 11 July, the courtyard of Echternach’s baroque abbey is home to a lively “Open Air Festival”, which is a great way to enjoy a midweek break in the famous holiday region. During the day, you can explore the region’s nature and forests by hiking on the Mullerthal Trail, regarded as one of the “Leading Quality Trails - Best of Europe”. The trail takes the visitor past castles, fortresses, chapels and picturesque villages, while passing bizarre rock formations and streams, leading to breathtaking panoramic views. On Thursday evening (9 July) a Jazz concert with the “Till Brönner Quintet” is scheduled to take place in the courtyard of the abbey. During a brass music concert the following evening, the atmosphere is more relaxed. On 11 July however, the atmosphere heats up, with performances by the Luxembourg Hip Hop Band “The Läb”, Indie Folk Band “Seed to Tree” and DJ “Sun Glitters & Lisa Berg”. Round off your concert evening with a “Late Night Dinner“, both the regional tourism office and hotel organizations have an array of interesting offers. © Christian Kieffer Between 26 and 31 July, the “Rock Classics @ Beaufort Castle“ guarantee buzzing rhythms a great midweek break or a long weekend in the Mullerthal region, also known as Luxembourg’s Little Switzerland. During the day you can explore the impressive castles in Beaufort, which serve as the backdrop of the festival. Don’t forget to try the famous black currant liqueur produced on site. On 26 July, the Swedish Heavy Metal Band “Sabaton” takes centre stage. Chosen as the winner of the “Golden Award“ by the British magazine “Metal Hammer”, it is a great opportunity to discover the band. The day after, visitors can enjoy the well-known and successful rock beats from “Status Quo”. The band will play their hits from their 30 albums released since 1968. With “Dream Theater”, one of the most important ambassadors of New York’s Progressive-Metal scene will also come to Luxembourg. “Queensrÿch“ is another band that will ensure the genre and will continue to thrill visitors. On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of his album “Misplaced Childhood”, “Fish” (aka “Derek William Dick”) will perform all its songs live in Beaufort. On 31 July, all good things come to an end.
