Polygon Alien Project – Plane Geometry Aliens have invaded EHT High School! They have been seen in the hallways during the passing periods. You have witnessed many crimes committed by the aliens and have been asked to produce a picture of the aliens so that security can locate them easier. The problem is that the aliens are made up of POLYGONS!!! To help you create the POLYGON alien you must follow the guidelines that security has established: Guidelines: 1. The polygons are to be cut out of other paper and taped/glued to an 8 ½ x 11 inch paper. 2. You must use a MINIMUM of 5 different polygon shapes. 3. You may only use a MAXIMUM of 3 shapes that are the same. (ex. Quadrilaterals, no more than 3!) 4. Shapes must be convex and regular. NO IRREGULAR OR CONCAVE SHAPES! 5. Facial features must be included. 6. Identify each polygon by printing its name on it. 7. Security also needs details of the aliens. These details are the sum of the interior angles of each polygon and the measure of each interior angle in the regular polygon. Every little bit of information helps. 8. Name, class period, and date should appear on the back of the paper, NOT THE FRONT! Also include on the back whether or not you would like your project to be hung on the wall of the classroom. 9. The final product is to be neat, correctly identified, colorful, creative, etc. Remember, your helping us find the aliens! The above picture/project is due on Monday, September 26, 2011. It will be counted as a quiz grade.
