19. Many people are fond of travelling nowadays.
 Are you one of them?
 What would you prefer: to travel abroad or to explore your own country?
 Which countries would you like to visit? Why?
Millions of people all around the world adore travelling. And I’m not an exception. Some
people enjoy travelling because they have a wish to see new countries and cities or visit
historical places, the others would like to meet new people and taste different cuisines.
Anyway, while travelling different people can find something special according to their
taste and pocket. As for me, I can’t imagine my life without travelling as it gives a
splendid opportunity to broaden my outlook. One more reason why travelling is an
essential part of my life is that it’s a great way to relax and escape from daily routines. So,
travelling helps me renew my emotional state and feel more freedom.
Someone prefers to travel to foreign countries and experience totally different and exotic
cultures, while the others tend to travel around their own countries. There is definitely a
great number of places all around my own country which deserve to be explored. By the
way, if you are short of money, travelling around your own country is a great way to
combine relaxation and saving money. Travelling is always travelling. No matter if you
visit some familiar places to you or explore an unknown area. If I’m given a chance to
choose the place to visit abroad or in my native country, I think I’d prefer the trip abroad. I
find that kind of a trip more exciting and educational. Travelling abroad provides a person
with a chance to feel thousands of miles away from home, to visit great cities and small
villages, to admire foreign architecture, cuisine and culture, to make new friends and what
not. What is more, it is the best way to broaden your mind, to improve your knowledge on
history and geography and to make your life full of new bright impressions.
If you ask me which country I’d choose to visit I would answer that it probably will be any
of exotic ones. For examples, it might be China. It seems to me this country is famous for
its diversity in all the spheres of life. China is full of tourist attractions with different
styles and varied sceneries. It’s also rich in its cultural traditions and its historical regions
differ due to the diversity of the climate, cuisine and customs.
All in all, travel makes it possible for people to feel the outside world in person. Without
it, people would be like a frog in a well. In other words, they would have a very limited
outlook. As Bruce Chatwin aptly puts it, “Travel doesn't merely broaden the mind. It
makes the mind”.
