Theme: «Travelling. Traveling by plane. »
Aim: to active vocabulary on the theme and to present new words and phrases; to
involve the pupils into discussion on the theme using topical vocabulary; to
develop listening and speaking skills; to develop creativity, imagination
language intuition; to encourage the pupils to communication using-work and
interactive methods of communication; to develop pupil’s interest to learning
English and have them understand of having a good command of English.
Equipment: books, cards, TV set, CDs, menu, cards with words.
PROCEDURE OF THE LESSON
I.The beginning of the lesson.
1.Greeting.
Good morning! I’m very glad to see you. Today we’ll travel in the world of the English
language together.
You have a workshop sheets on the desks. Take it please and put down your name on it.
Choose with a tick how you feel today.

T: - And now, my dear friends, do you agree with these statements?

T: - Let’s discuss them.
P1: - Modern life is impossible without travelling. It’s true that sometimes we get tired of
daily routine, so relaxation is useful for mental and physical skills.
P2: - While travelling you always get to know something new. You can learn more about
history, traditions, customs and the way of life of other people and compare it with yours.
P3: - Being a businessman you have to travel much, to meet many people, to arrange
business deals and personal relations.
P4: - During business trips, you also find out about the world around us, you enlarge your
knowledge of international customs.
P5: - Travelling is very popular nowadays. People may travel by plane, by train, by bus or
by car, visit different places. But it is very important to feel not as a quest and have real
friends there.

3. Speaking
T. Well you know different ways of travelling. People travel on business or for pleasure.
They would like to see their own country or sights abroad.

P1. I like travelling by air. There are many ways of travelling. Of course the fastest way of
travelling is by plane. Nowadays people who go on business mostly travel by air because it
is more comfortable, more convenient and of course far quicker than any other method.
A stewardess is a person who works in the plane. She always wears a special uniform. She
must be a good-looking woman. She must be polite, communicative. She must know
foreign languages. She must also be brave and take care of people.
P2. I enjoy travelling by sea. There are a lot of people who are fond of sea and sea
travelling. For me there is no travel so fine as by ship. I love to feel the fresh sea wind
blowing in my face and hear the cry of sea-gulls. It is very exciting.
P3. Travelling by train is my favorite way of travelling. Some people travel by car, others –
by air and good many – by train. The railway still takes care of the great part of passengers.
Trains are more convenient for most people in some ways. Travelling by train is slower
than by plane, but it also has its advantages. You can see the country. Modern trains have
many comfortable seats in all passenger carriages, and besides there are sleeping cars and
dining cars, which make even the longest journey enjoyable.
A Conductor is a person who checks tickets in the train. He wears a special uniform. He
must be polite, communicative, attentive and sociable.
P4. I like getting to different places by car. One of the most pleasant things in the world is
making a journey in a car. Many people like to travel by car. You can get out wherever you
like, stop when and where you want. Besides you can make your time-table, you don't have
to buy a ticket, and you are not afraid you will miss a train. That's why travelling by car is
popular for pleasure trips.

4. Role play “Tour Agency”.
K Ah Ann, the vacation is coming. Do you have any plan?
A: Not yet. I want to do something special but I don’t have any idea. How about you?

A manager of tour agency. Dear guests! Welcome to our Tour Agency. I am a
manager of our tour agency and these are my agents. Our tour agents have prepared some
information about Australia, the USA, Great Britain, Egypt and Kazakhstan. They have
done small booklets of sights of these countries.
Agent 1. I invite you to visit Australia. Australia is a very interesting country. You
can see the exotic birds, kangaroos, koalas, the Blue Mountains, The national Gallery. It has
more than 70000 art objects in its collection. Welcome to Australia!
Agent 2. I invite you to visit Egypt. It’s a very beautiful country. You can see deserts,
sphinx, Pyramids, ancient manuscripts, and of course, you can buy souvenirs. Your
traveling will be exciting! You will not be bored!
Agent 3. I invite you to visit America. It’s the most beautiful country. There are a lot
of sightseeing in it. If you go to America, you will see the Statue of Liberty, The White
House, the Washington Monument.
Agent 4. There are many countries in the world. But my country is the best.
Kazakhstan is my Motherland. I admire its nature, mountains, and rare animals. If you go to
Kazakhstan, you will enjoy Charin, Medeo, Tyan-Shan, Baiterek
K So, what country would you like to go?
A: I’d like to go to Egypt, because I haven’t seen the Sphinx and the Pyramids
K We have to buy the tickets now, otherwise only the most expensive will be left.
