It is very important for everybody to make the right choice of profession. And it is no wonder because there are a lot of honourable professions at your
disposal to obtain
, for example, the profession of a teacher, a doctor, a computer-operator, an engineer, a journalist, an agronomist, a miner
, a fitter,
etc. It is difficult for young people of seventeen to give a definite answer. I have known for a long time that leaving school is the beginning of my independent life, the beginning of a far more serious examination of my abilities and character.
As the years passed I changed my plans a lot of times about which profession to choose. At the moment I’ve made my mind to be a teacher. I think the job of a teacher is very difficult and one of the
noblest
professions among others. I admire the
traits
of character typical for real teachers such as kindness, great responsibility, honesty and tolerance. A teacher is the kindest, the most necessary and
charitable
profession. Not everybody is
suitable
for it and can make a good teacher. To become one you need to be able
to sacrifice
a lot, to have a
passionate
heart and
concern
for children
entrusted
to you. It is one of the most responsible professions because the teacher does not deal with machines or objects, but with children, the most
precious
and
vulnerable
"material”. The teacher will
inevitably
influence them,
mould
their personalities, build up their
prospects,
as well as
determine
their values in life.
The teacher should be a model, a sample to follow because it if common knowledge that children are big parrots, they like to imitate adults, especially those in authority. Children watch them
intently
, study their character and soul, and copy everything they like: teacher’s clothes, gestures, expressions and so on and so forth. It’s great if there is something
worthy
to be copied and
acquired
by others. But it is a great pity if there is nothing of the kind and the children are just being
damaged
and
harmed.
The teacher meets a lot of challenges and
hardships
in his work, so he must be very wise, patient and
mature
to face any problem and deal with it in a proper way. It is very difficult to be a good teacher because he must
impart
all his knowledge,
skills
and
generosity
to pupils.

These days millions of people all over the world travel either for business or for pleasure. They travel to see other countries & continents, modern cities & ruins of
ancient
towns. They travel to enjoy
picturesque
places, customs & traditions of other peoples or just for
a change of scene.
Modern means of transport give us an
excellent opportunity
for comfortable travelling. You can choose any way of travelling
depending
on your taste & money. You can travel by train, by bus, by air, or by car.
Each way of travelling has its advantages & disadvantages. As for me there is
nothing like
travelling by plane. It is the fastest & the most
convenient
kind of transport. Planes
cover
long distances for a short period of time. The only disadvantage is the price of the tickets. Besides, some people feel
air sick
. Travelling by train gives its own advantages. The price of the ticket is much lower. From the seat of a railway
carriage
you have a
splendid view
of the
countryside
. But our trains are not comfortable enough & often carriages are not clean. Many people like to travel by car. You can choose any
route
you like by car. You can stop wherever & whenever you want. You don’t have to worry about the tickets or to carry your
luggage.
To cut a long story short, every person chooses
according
to his plans &
preferences.
Nowadays
you can
hardly
find a person who hasn’t travelled
at least
once in his life. You can travel by train, by air, by bus or by car. Each way of travelling has its advantages & disadvantages. Of course it
depends
on the distance you travel. As for me, I
prefer
travelling either by air or by car. But last year I
happened
to travel by train. I would like to tell you about my travelling to Odessa. A trip was organized by our teacher. I was glad not
to miss the opportunity
to visit such a beautiful city at the
Black Sea. We
arrived
in Odesa early in the morning, left out
luggage
at the hotel & met our
guide
.
The weather was nice & warm. The guide told us much about the history of Odesa. It was
founded
in the 14th century. There are two
versions
about the name of the city. One says that it
originates
from the French word meaning ‘water’. Another
suggests
that the city was named after an
ancient
Greek colony which
existed
not far from the present Odessa. During our two-day trip we visited the famous
Opera &
Ballet
Theatre,
Archeological Museum,
took photos of the statue of Duc de Richelieu. Of course we went up & down the 142-metre -long Potemkin Stairs & visited Odesa
Catacombs.
Unfortunately
, we didn’t have enough time to visit all the sightseeings of this wonderful city. It’s a pity we couldn’t swim in the sea, because it was spring & the weather was cool for it. But we decided to come here on our summer holidays.
