Spring Break 2013 ITINERARY

Tentative arrangement of the activities we will do. Firmer schedule at later date in February.

Friday March 8 Advance Team only travels to Belize – home base Tropical Paradise Hotel on the island

Saturday March 9 Workshop Participants to Belize City by US Air, ARRIVE BY NOON – essential.

Then by water shuttle to Caye Caulker island Tropical Paradise Hotel: home base Sat. – Thursday

National holiday in Belize - National Heroes and Benefactors Day. Everything will still be open.

Check-in and Hotel Tour. ??? Breakfast included at Tropical Paradise.

Walking Tour –island’s hotel neighborhood/restaurants

WELCOME Dinner included – Team Building. Organize work projects

Sunday March 10 Worship service and Belizean meal (included) – first hand contact with villagers of all ages and walks of life. Take a walking tour of the village ; distribution of donations ?

Monday Service Day : Day 1 Job Shadow morning: At the Primary School: Shadow teachers to observe more closely the teaching and learning environment at the school. Pre-med students will do the same shadowing with doctors, nurses or clinic administrators. Lunch included

Tuesday Service Day Day 2: ALL M.U. students will teach and do service projects at schools and clinic. Lunch included

ESL Night School Teaching- Session 2

Wednesday Service Day Day 3: Primary School. All attend and help with these:

WELLNESS DAY at the Clinic = blood-pressure and blood-sugar testing afternoon with the community nurse. We have to bring the equipment down as it's a very small clinic staffed by a volunteer Cuban doctor. High-blood pressure and diabetes are two big health issues in Belize.

Friday –Sightseeing – depart island by water taxi. Bus tour to Altun Ha Mayan ruins (free time late pm)

Stay night at hotel in Belize City - Mopan or Conningsby Inn

Saturday – Departure and Travel home Workshop Group: Arrive Dayton airport.
