Webb High School Stadium, 9:00 a.m. Try on your cap and gown to make sure it fits properly. A gown should not be so long it catches in your shoe heel—hem the gown if necessary. Any gown shorter than 12 inches from the floor should be exchanged as soon as possible (see Mrs. Doerfler for exchanges). Take the gown out of the plastic and hang it up so the wrinkles will come out. Do this before June 1st. It can be ironed if the iron is set on a low setting. Tassels should be worn on the left. No Sunglasses. Seniors are to be dressed and in the gym by 8:00 a.m. The ceremony begins at 9:00 a.m. If you did not attend rehearsal, do not come to participate in the graduation ceremony. Seniors are to dress appropriately for the ceremony. If you do not, you will not be allowed to participate in graduation! Males: White, collared, dress shirt, dark tie with a small pattern, black dress pants (no blue jeans, khakis or plaids) and black dress shoes with dark socks. No tennis shoes, sandals, or boots (unless they are black dress boots). Wear/bring your shoes to Graduation practice! Females: Dark colored dress that does not have an extremely high neckline—its length should not exceed the gown’s length. Polka-dots/stripes/patterns show through your graduation gown. Solid black, dress shoes are required; no casual sandals, flip flops, tennis shoes, etc. If your cap is loose fitting, pin it on with bobby pins; they are not noticeable. Do not pin the cap to the BACK of your head, this is not how it is supposed to be worn. You should have a white collar that came with your gown. (If you did not get one, don’t stress – just ask Mrs. Doerfler for one). Sew it on your gown before you come! Do not bother with the tape provided, it doesn’t work well. Wear/bring your shoes to Graduation practice! Male and Females: All earrings worn should be small. If you have concerns about dress requirements, please see Mrs. Doerfler as soon as possible. Only J.F. Webb/SHLS-issued honor cords or tassels may be worn with the cap and gown. Graduation will be held in the stadium, weather permitting. Handicapped parking and seating will be available. (Notify Mrs. Doerfler by June 1st if you know you will have someone who needs special parking and/or seating so we can plan accordingly.) **VERY IMPORTANT**: If the weather forces graduation to be moved into the gym, tickets will be required for entrance. Each Senior will be given four (4) tickets at graduation practice on June 7.. If the ceremony is held in the gym all guests must have a ticket—this includes all children. If you need more than four tickets you should check with other Seniors who do not need all of theirs. There are no extra tickets available. The doors to the gym will close at 9:10 a.m. and no other guests will be admitted. This is to limit disruptions in the ceremony. SENIORS: Please be sure to leave your tickets with your family/friends and do not bring them with you to graduation. If the ceremony is moved at the last minute (as it has in the past) there will not be an opportunity to give your tickets to the people who will need them. V. Notice: the only people on the field will be the graduates, chorus, band, and school officials. VI. Graduation Speakers—Valedictorians from each school. VII. Baccalaureate Service—TBA (Likely, Monday, June 3 in the evening). This is a worship service for seniors and their family/friends. Seniors attending are expected to wear their cap and gown. This is optional. You are responsible for knowing and following what is on both sides of this paper! If you don’t understand something, see Mrs. Doerfler, Ms. Lyon, Mrs. Magnanti, Mrs. Meadows, or your principal.
