Ref No: PD49 Job Title: GRADUATE ENGINEER (CIVILS / BUILDING SERVICES) Department: PROJECTS Section/Division: SUBWAY MODERNISATION Reports To: SENIOR ENGINEER/SENIOR PROJECT MANAGER Grade: C/D Date: 22/04/2015 Job Purpose: The Graduate Engineer is a key role within the Projects team to provide engineering and management support for Subway Modernisation projects and the wider Subway engineering management and improvement (as required). The role will support the Project Managers and Project Engineers in the delivery of all projects under the Station Refurbishment and Infrastructure Asset Renewal workstreams and ensure projects are carried out in accordance with SPT’s engineering specifications and standards, industry standards & best practice and SPTs change management process. In addition, the role will provide technical support and resource to the Engineering Assurance team (as requested and agreed) to assist with the delivery of engineering improvement and change within the Subway organisation, including involvement in the engineering investigation, challenge, acceptance and audit functions. Key Responsibilities: To work under instruction to provide technical and management support to ongoing stations refurbishment and infrastructure asset renewal projects, including: o Station Redesigns o Subsurface Chainage Replacement o Pumping Station Upgrades o Tunnel Lining Improvements o Ramps & Turnouts Renewal o Internal Infrastructure Improvement Programme Assist in data gathering and review of documents and drawings in support of the Subway Modernisation and Internal Delivery Programme Assist in the co-ordination and production of design and record information related to the Subway Modernisation Engineering group and other departmental engineering activity Assist in the production/administration and managing of project related reports and documents, such as monthly reports, engineering technical notes and meeting minutes. Assist and develop knowledge of project controls to be able to take independent responsibility of managing small scale/inhouse business improvement projects Assist in developing, implementing and managing robust engineering solutions relating to all engineering aspects of General Duties: Modernisation Participate in the development and implementation of new engineering standards and processes Participate in the development and implementation of formal approvals, independent verifications and engineering changes associated with Subway standards Participate in the Safety Assurance, Quality Assurance, sign off and testing required for internal and external works Support the investigation and reporting of any incident or business improvement areas associated with the day to day maintenance and operations activities (as requested) Engineering support may include nightshift working Work in a collaboratively within a multi-disciplinary team and have the ability to communicate in a clear, fluent and positive manner Develop technical and managerial skills to work towards chartered engineer and/or chartered manager status. Be capable of managing their own time to deliver their workload efficiently and in line with expectations and agreements Undertake other duties as may be required that fall within the purview of the post as required by the developing workload within the Subway Modernisation programme SPT has a detailed Health & Safety Policy, a copy of which is available from the Intranet.
