2015 WESTERN STATES WILD HORSE & BURRO EXPO
The Board of the 2015 Western States Wild Horse & Burro Expo would like to extend to you an
invitation to support the 2015 Western States Wild Horse & Burro Expo July 31st – August 2nd, 2015
at the Douglas County Fairgrounds. This will be the third year this event will be held in Douglas County,
having previously been held for more than ten years at the Reno Livestock Events Center.
This event is intended to highlight and promote the training and adoption of the wild mustangs
and burros, important representatives of our state and national heritage, and to showcase many of the
products of our local vendors and business. The Expo encompasses a three-day equine event featuring
only mustangs and burros competing in a variety of disciplines, highlighting their versatility and utility,
and will include:
* Western and English Competitions
* Gymkhana and Speed Competitions
* Event Barbeque
* Inmate Trainer Mustang Challenge
* Shopping Pavilion
* Equine Training Clinics
Many of these mustangs are the product of the Stewart Conservation Camp in Carson City, one of
a handful of prison programs that teach inmates how to gentle and train wild mustang. This is a truly
unique program, one that a win-win situation for inmates and wild mustangs alike, and an educational
event for adults and children alike.
This event is being promoted by the National Wild Horse Center, the Stewart Conservation Camp
Saddle Horse Program, and in partnership with the Carson Valley Visitor’s Authority and the Chamber of
Commerce. The success of this event depends on the generosity of sponsors such as you, who recognize
the value of promoting the mustangs, their training and adoption, as well as the value of forging a
relationship with those in our community who support our local businesses.
