Lebron Cooper "Dr. Cooper is board certified anesthesiologist and an echocardiographer, who is an Associate Professor of Clinical Anesthesiology and Director of Clinical Operations, Cardiac Cath and EP Labs, at Henry Ford Hospital. He went to medical school at University of Tennessee Memphis, residency at Tulane University School of Medicine, and CVT Fellowship at Texas Heart Institute in Houston. Most recently, he served as Chief of Anesthesiology, Medical Director for Perioperative Services, Site Director for Cardiothoracic Anesthesiology, Chief of Minimally Invasive and Robotic Cardiac Anesthesia, and Director of Perioperative Information Technology at University of Miami Hospital. He was Interim Chair of Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee and the Anesthesia/Pharmacy Liaison, a member of the Medical Executive Committee, and Director of Medication Safety for the University of Miami School of Medicine. He currently serves as chair of the PR committee and sits on the board for the FOCUS Initiative of SCA, serves on the Planning Committee for the Thoracic Anesthesia Symposium, the editorial board of the Institute for Safe Medication Practices and is a reviewer of the ISMP Newsletter. He is an advisory panel member for the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (akin to ASA for pharmacists), a peer-reviewer of several anesthesiology and pharmacy journals, as well as society meeting abstract submissions, and sits on the editorial board of the Journal of Cardiology and Therapy. He is also currently involved in 4 IRB-approved grant projects as PI or co-PI, including a peer-to-peer observational study of medication safety in cardiac surgery and one (soon to be two) IRB project with the department of anesthesiology at Henry Ford. He recently mentored a resident for submission of an abstract to the upcoming SCA in April. He was an invited participant to the APSF Summit on medication safety and has served as a training consultant to PharMEDium, PYXIS, and Omnicell. He has lectured or presented oral discussions and PBLDs at ASA, SCA, IARS, SOAP, and ASHP, has served on the Program Planning Committee of the SCA, is a frequent visiting professor at other anesthesiology departments in the US, and has been invited to speak on medication errors in anesthesia at the 2014 Israeli Society of Anesthesiologists Annual meeting in Tel Aviv next September. Dr. Cooper published the only prospective study on medication errors in the US, Canada, or South America, and he recently published a review article on medication errors in anesthesia."
