9th GRADE COMPUTER APPLICATIONS III Grading Policy EVALUATION AREAS: Students will be evaluated from in-class projects and assessments. DESCRIPTION OF EVALUATION AREAS: The instructional focus of student projects and assessments is Word Processing, Spreadsheet and Database skills using Microsoft Office 2013. In addition to these programs, students will be introduced to Adobe Flash Professional CS5 and Adobe Photoshop CS5. Students will also review Google Drive and gain an understanding of Microsoft OneDrive. Students will be tested on their ability to accurately complete projects and follow oral and written directions. FACTORS USED TO DETERMINE GRADE: Projects and assessments will be given a point value. The point value will vary depending on the difficulty of the assignment or the amount of material being covered. These point values will be totaled at the end of each quarter and divided by the total number of possible points for the quarter. This percentage will be assigned a letter grade according to the school district grading policy (see below). FINAL GRADE: Each marking period accounts for 21% of the final grade and the final exam accounts for the remaining 16% of the final grade. This final percentage is then assigned a letter grade according to the school district grading policy. DISTRICT GRADING POLICY A+ A B+ B C+ C D E/F 97 - 100 90 – 96 87 – 89 80 – 86 77 - 79 70 - 76 65 - 69 Below 65 ABSENCES/MISSED OR INCOMPLETE WORK: If a student is absent from school or falling behind with work, it is the student’s responsibility to see the teacher to get any missing assignments and to seek help. All missed work should be completed within a cycle. If help is needed, the student should arrange a mutual time to work with the teacher either before school or during E3. Missing work completed after the cycle will receive half credit at its completion. COMPUTER LAB RULES AND POLICIES: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. All students will have respect towards the teacher, others and all equipment. Please do not vandalize the desks, computers, books as they will be handled by the Penndale Discipline Code. Only submit your work as all other work will result in a zero (0) grade. Please wait patiently to be helped and clean up your work area before the end of class. Although not necessary, a jump drive (flash drive) might be helpful to those who desire to complete work at home. Students are not permitted to access unauthorized sites, such as, but not limited to, games and music until all class work is completed. Students with a class average below a “C” grade are not permitted to use the internet. a. Students who do not adhere to these rules: i. Teacher will offer a verbal warning to exit such sites, then a written warning if behavior continues. ii.
