SOLAR POWER PLANT MODEL DEVELOPMENT
Chapter 1
Introduction
The study intends to investigate the intensity of the solar light to cause the generation of
energy to the different period of the day ranging from six in the morning to six in the afternoon
using 15volts by 5 Ampere solar panel cell that will resets to the development of a practically
needed solar power plant model “Typical House design”.
The reduction of natural supply or crude oil world wide result to the sustainability of its
availability in the market everywhere to include the Philippines as this eventuality continuously
occurring the prevailing market price of the product is also using to the extent that electric power
supply generation becomes costly at 12.00 php. Per kilowatt. Hence, such trends may rising
unendingly until crude oil deposits are finally depleted.
According to (Herron, Ph.D., 2000) new scholarly assessments of oil reserves, the world
faces a relentless oil-supply crisis beginning in the early years of this new century.
An immediate remedy to address the foregoing problems on electric power supply is
deemed very necessary as electricity every household is already a part of every lifestyle,
especially on individual economic activities.
It is in the aforesaid reasons that the study to investigate the possibility of developing a
solar power plant model will be conducted. It is serves our environment, lower our electricity
bill, it fully sustainable, and it is quit and clean, solar energy is free- sure, is an initial capital cost
but once you have made the investment the energy harvested from the sun cost you nothing. No
one will be sending you a bill for sunshine, solar energy is clean alternative to fossil fuels. Solar
power can be captured anywhere without creating noise pollution that might otherwise up set
neighbors and wildlife. Thus, no danger of damaging our already damaged environment.
Objectives of the study
General Objectives
The study of development of the Solar power Plant Model is geared towards the
determination of the possibility to electricity energize the given household that is having all the
necessary appliances and other facilities that are operated through utilization of electricity
powered by a solar energy.
Specific Objectives
1. To measure the intensity of solar light that will generate electricity during the
daytime period of:
1.1 Sunrise
( SR: 6AM to 9AM )
1.2 Late morning
( LM: 9AM to 12PM )
1.3 Past noon
( PN: 12PM to 3PM )
1.4 Sunset
( SS: 3PM to 6PM )
2. To determine the consumption rate (Kw/h) of the given household that is
utilizing the major appliances (lights, T.V, electric fan, etc.)
Significance of the Study
The study identifies the intensity of solar light that generate electricity during the daytime
period (SR, LM, PN, and SS).
The environmental impact of the study is to reduced the combustion use of fossil fuel power
generation, Such as impact from greenhouse gasses and other air emissions
The study of developing the Solar Power Plant Model generating sustainable electricity
in reasonable cost to energize the necessary appliances and other facilities of a typical household.
Scope and Delimitation of the study
The study on the determination of developing the Solar Power Plant Model evolves on
the identification of the solar energy that can be generated through the fabrication of solar cell
panel, solar energy generation (4200 watt per day), solar energy storing and banking system,
Solar energy utilization per “typical household” per day.
The study will be conducted in SKSU Kalamansig Campus, Kalamansig Sultan Kudarat,
Philippines between the periods of October to December 2012.
Chapter III
Materials and Method
This study, the researchers will be gathering all the materials needed in constructing a
solar power plant model, in order to materialized the objectives of the study. The materials used
for construction of the device are the following:

6 Solar Panel (4inches x 6inches)

Battery (12volts, 15A)

Inverter (1500watts)

Charge controller

Copper Wire


Design Analysis
In this study, solar power plant model “typical house design” which will be developed
through this process. First, 6 solar panel will be used, and it composed of solar cell to collect
solar radiation and transform it into electrical energy. Install a battery (12 Volts, 15A) in a
parallel form to store the electric energy, and then the inverter (1500 Watts) will be connected in
the battery to convert direct current (DC) to alternating current (AC) trough wit this process, the
electric equipments (lamps, TVs, Cassettes players, radio, computers and other appliances)
which needed alternating current (AC) will be supplied.
See fig. 2 below.

Preparation of materials
The following materials use in this study are the 6 fabricated solar panel, procurement of
battery (12volts, 15A), inverter, electric wire and others material need to construct a typical
house design so that the power plant model will develop.
Installation of the device
a. Place the fabricated solar panel in the roof top of a typical house design.
b. Connect the battery into the fabricated solar panel in order to store electricity
c. Connect the inverter to the battery.
d. Connect the installed device into the household for utilization of the different major
appliances.
Testing/Evaluation of the device
To measure, if the device generate electricity from solar light in the different period of
the day and to test the stored energy in the battery if can sustain the consumption of the given
household with (4200 Watts) per day.
Operational Definitions
Solar panel - is composed of solar cells that collect solar radiation and
Transform it into electrical energy.
Battery - store electric energy that can be used for radio, TV, Lamp and fan when there
is no sunlight.
Charge Controller - is used for overcharge protection or Overload protection of the
battery.
Inverter - it is used to convert the 12V, 24V and 48V DC Voltage to 220V AC voltage.
Then we can supply the Household appliance needed AC voltage.
Solar power - is the conversion of sunlight into electricity.
Solar Cells
- capture the sun’s energy and change it to electricity.
Battery Bank - is a collection of connected 2-, 6-, or 12-volt batteries that supply power
to household in case of outages or low production from renewable energy sources.
Light intensity - light intensity on a solar cell is called the number of suns, where 1 sun
corresponds to standard illumination at AM1.5, or 1 kW/m2. For example a system with
10 kW/m2 incident on the solar cell would be operating at 10 suns, or at 10X. A PV
module designed to operate under 1 sun conditions is called a "flat plate" module while
those using concentrated sunlight are called "concentrators".
Solar energy storage- used chargeable battery banks to store electricity by day and
release it at night, though newer methods.
