05 May 2015 Dear Parent / Guardian Re: Y11 Leavers 2015 I would like to share with you information regarding Y11 final arrangements. On Tuesday 12th May the revision timetable begins and normal lessons end. On this date the students are expected to attend school as normal, but the day will run as follows: 8.35am meet with College Leader for a special registration Marlowe – PE classroom Raleigh – IT lead lesson Vesalius – Science lead lesson Walsingham – Maths lead lesson Tyndale – English lead lesson 9am - celebratory breakfast in the restaurant, along with a chance to sign leavers’ books. 10am – final assembly where we will share memories and celebrate their five years at the academy. 11.30am - students will be dismissed from school. Please note: if students want to sign shirts, they need to bring a spare shirt, as we want to ensure that when they leave the premises they remain smart and respectable. Revision & Exams Students will receive a revision and examination timetable informing them of when they are required to be in school. Revision sessions are NOT optional, attendance at these sessions is essential to ensure that exam success is maximised. It is vital that students attend all sessions that they are timetabled for. Students’ admission to Prom is dependent upon their full attendance at these sessions and behaviour throughout the examination season. Students need to be in full uniform at all times. Additionally, there are a number of revision sessions arranged during the half term week, and students need to check carefully as to when they are required. The timings of the sessions vary depending on the subject, and these are listed clearly. Students will not be expected to wear school uniform during half term, but the usual equipment for learning will be required. If your child is staying for an all-day session, they may wish to bring a snack, as lunch will not be provided. Please see additional information for details of the Prom and leavers’ hoodies. I would like to remind you that the school is open to students at any time during the examination season and if students want to come into school to revise, use the library, use a computer or to talk to a teacher they are more than welcome and I would encourage this. Finally, I would like to wish the students all the very best of luck in their examinations. I have been impressed with how hard they have worked and I know this will be reflected in their results in August. Yours sincerely Mrs S Roach Principal Prom This year’s Prom is being held at the Pear Tree & Country Hotel in Smite. Students have worked incredibly hard and the Prom is an opportunity to celebrate their achievements as a year group. The date for the Prom is Friday 26th June, dress for this special event will be formal and the cost of tickets will be £30.00 to include a formal two course meal, a drink and a disco. Student cars and carriages should arrive at 6.00pm, food will be served at 7.30pm and this will allow time for photographs to be taken. The evening will finish at 11.00pm. A photographer will be present at the Prom and photographs will be available for purchase after the event. Alcohol will not be on sale at the venue and no one should bring any with them or have consumed any prior to arrival. It will also be a nonsmoking occasion. Students should be aware that anybody choosing not to adhere to these conditions may be refused entry or may be asked to leave and their parents requested to collect them. Students will be able to purchase soft drinks from the bar. If your son/daughter would like to attend the Prom, we require payment as soon as possible. All payments should be directed to Mrs Taylor in Student Services. Cheques for £30.00 should be made payable to Tudor Grange Academy Worcester. Tickets will be issued by Mrs Taylor on Monday 22nd June at 10am. Students who have collected merit stickers during the year can use them as part payment against their Prom ticket. Each merit sticker is worth 10p, so twenty five merit stickers would reduce the cost of the ticket by £2.50. Merits can be used for up to £10 of the value of the ticket. Students should bring a printed record from Carrot Rewards to Mrs Taylor when buying their ticket should they wish to take advantage of this arrangement. As you are aware, students make their own way to and from the Prom. Many parents and families line the driveway into the venue to see students arrive wearing ball gowns and dinner suits in their limousines, carriages and various other vehicles, making a fantastic start to their evening. Should you require any further information about the Prom please do not hesitate to contact either Mr Turner or Mrs Taylor. Hoodies I am also pleased to be able to offer you the opportunity to purchase a leavers’ hoodie for your child. The hoodie will be in a choice of colours and sizes. It will have Tudor Grange Academy Leavers on the left chest and LEAVERS 2015 on the back. The 2015 will be made up of all the students’ names in this cohort. The cost of the hoodie is £17.99. Orders can be made online by visiting http://www.leavershoodies.com/shop/tudorgrangeworcester2015 The final date for ordering is 27th May. Hoodies will then be distributed to students on the 22nd June along with prom tickets. Please contact Mrs Gent if you have any further queries.
