The Frances Dancy Hooks Award 2012 Award Nomination Packet Background: This award was initiated in 1994, when Frances Dancy Hooks and Dr. Benjamin Hooks were here as keynote speakers for the King celebration. The award recognizes students, staff or faculty who exemplify Frances Dancy Hooks’ work: building bridges across cultures, showing courage in promoting diversity, and proudly “Walks the Talk.” Recognition: The award will be presented at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Peace Breakfast on January 16, 2012. Nomination Process: The nomination form must address all of the selection criteria. Nominations must be submitted by Friday, December 2, 2011 at 5:00 pm to the contact below. Selection criteria includes: 1. Leadership abilities related to diversity have been demonstrated. 2. Actions and behaviors are congruent with words, “Walks the Talk.” 3. Demonstrated ability to build cross-cultural bridges. 4. Demonstrated willingness to take risks when promoting diversity. 5. Conducts and promotes cultural diversity activities as a sharing, caring and educational endeavor, and not for personal gain.
