We have identified that there are key transition times and the following procedures should be adhered to in order to
safeguard the wellbeing of children and persons in our care:
To 8:50am: staff member assigned to register performs regular headcount and register reconciliation as required.
8:50-9:00: staff member with register marks exit time for every child as they exit to classrooms
Note: another staff member escorts Reception and year 1 children to their classrooms - transferring any messages or
amending evening register re changes. Years 2-6 exit to classrooms via hall.
8.50 to 9.25: staff member assigned to register on entry/exit points to mark each child in/out
9am to 9.25 Service is to be supervised by 2 staff (maximum 12 children) usually in Quiet room (registers reconciled each
day)
11:45: Children leaving at 11:45, empty trays proceed to cloakroom with a member of staff who will
parents/carers into cloakroom to collect or drop off children and also mark in / out children leaving/arriving.

11:45-12:15 Nursery children attending for lunch taken through to Hall for lunch by 4 staff – other 2 staff members
released to have 20 minute lunch by rotation.
12:45: Crossover of children entering and leaving – as above.
3:10-3:15: Children leaving to check their trays, get coats and sit at tables waiting for parents/carers to arrive. Member
of staff assigned to register to sign children out on register and guard exit point.
Note: another staff member to supervise children staying for after school club and ensure they are booked onto evening
register (3:15 to 3:35)
3.25 -3:30 Two staff members to collect reception and year one from classrooms for evening club and ensure agreed to
evening register displayed in classroom.
Note: Year 2- 6 children enter Club via Hall and hang their coats and personal belongings in cloakroom before taking up their
seats and waiting for register.
3:35-3:40: Staff member assigned to register takes roll call. Headcount performed and register reconciled by 3:40pm to
ensure all children expected accounted for or investigated*
To 6pm: staff member assigned to register performs regular headcount and register reconciliation as required.
Other key times / checks
Headcount v Register reconciliation: staff member assigned to register performs regular headcount and register
reconciliation as required through each session and particularly when children returning from Hall / Outside Play / School
Clubs to ensure all children expected accounted for or investigated*.
Toilet times: one staff member on each toilet and children sent in twos from the carpet area to toilet/wash hands.
Outside Play: two staff members assigned to cloakroom and assist children in getting ready for outdoor play. Once 10
children ready the two staff members transfer to outdoor play area. This process then repeated.
