Biological Lab Technician
Badger Technical Services (BTS), a dynamic 8(a) Alaska Native Corporation (ANC),
recognized for its excellence in Environmental Services, Engineering, Logistics Support
Services, and Conservation & Restoration has an immediate opportunity for an
experienced Biological Lab Technician based in Duluth, Minnesota. The position will
be in support of an EPA research contract and will be located at the USEPA MidContinent Ecology Division laboratory, Duluth MN.
In this position, your duties will consist of:
 Picking of benthic macroinvertebrates from sediment samples and sorting into
general taxonomic groups.
 Job requires long hours using a microscope and involves slide mounting of taxa,
record keeping, quality control, and report preparation.
Qualifications:
 Requires familiarity with aquatic organism taxa.
 Must be detail-oriented, have a strong work ethic, be able to follow standard
operating procedures, and be able to work on weekend days and holidays as
required.
 Experience in taxonomic identification of macroinvertebrates is preferred, but not
required.
Education:
 B.S. in Biology or related field preferred, but will consider someone entering the
senior year of a degree program.
Special Requirements, Certifications and Licensures:
 Candidates MUST have U.S. Citizenship or the ability to obtain citizenship, and
be able to pass a government background investigation.
