Emphasis is on developing proficient skills in listening comprehension, speaking, reading, writing, grammar, and vocabulary. Basic grammar is introduced through conversation. This class involves individual work, small group work, class participation, and leadership roles in order to build these language skills. They state that it is the student’s responsibility to request and obtain missing work. When a student has an excused absence, the student has the same number of days they were absent plus one day to make up assignments.
