BREEDING SHED REQUIREMENTS
BARREN AND NOT BRED MARES: All barren mares and those not bred the previous year are required to have a
clean regular uterine culture within 30 days of breeding date. A clean culture certificate must accompany the
mare to the breeding shed. A clean culture will be required for ALL return covers (not including doubles.) The
culture must be taken from the current heat period.
MAIDEN MARES: The clean culture requirements are the same as stated above for barren and not bred mares.
FOALING MARES: No culture is required for the first cover. A clean regular uterine culture is required for ALL
return covers (not including doubles). The culture must be taken from the current heat period.
EVA POSITIVE MARES: Any mare which is EVA positive without proof of being sero-negative prior to vaccination
must be identified as such when booking the mare and will be bred last in line on any given day.
ALL MARES: being presented for breeding, bust be vaccinated for the Equine Herpes Virus type-1, within 7 – 90
days pre-breeding. A statement from a veterinarian attesting to vaccination must accompany the mare to the
breeding shed.
