Job Title: Landfill Maintenance Worker I
Department: Public Works

Summary Maintains and repairs property of municipality by performing the following
duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be
assigned.
Receives written work orders or verbal instructions from Supervisor
Cuts grass and trims weeds on Landfill property. Cleans buildings, washes windows, and
empties trash cans. Drives truck and loads fallen tree limbs and roadside trash onto
truck.
Operates snow removal equipment to maintain City property. Maintains and repairs
parts of buildings. May assist in replacing worn or damaged parts such as hoses, wiring,
and belts, in machines and equipment such as truck, and riding mower.
Supervisory Responsibilities
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Qualifications To perform this job successfully, an individual must be at least 18 years
old, and able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED), and up to 1 years’ experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in oneon-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the
organization.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple instructions. Ability to
deal with standardized situations with only occasional or no variables.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Must have a valid Montana Driver's license and be insurable by the City's insurance
carrier.
