The successful candidate will be employed by the Australian Government as part of the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT). Some of the key aspects of the employment package offered for the vacancy are described below. Contract Term: The position is full-time/permanent, subject to a completion of a six (6) months probationary period. Salary: The Salary offer for the successful applicant will be in accordance with the DFAT Kiribati locally engaged staff ‘work level salary scale’. The salary range is from $17,592 AUD to $21,138 AUD (LE4) or $22,694 AUD to $25,898 AUD (LE5). A performance bonus may be payable upon exceptional performance. Annual/ Recreation Leave: Accrues at 20 days per year. Personal Leave: Employees are entitled to 20 days per annum. This encompasses sick leave and carer’s leave. Other Leave Entitlements: These include compassionate, maternity, adoption and parental leave. Superannuation: Employees are entitled to a superannuation contribution of 7.5% of salary, which is paid into the Kiribati Provident Fund. Page 2 of 6 ABOUT THE POSITION The Property Administration Manager manages a small team to ensure that the Australian High Commission offices and grounds, staff residences, equipment, furnishings and official vehicles are safe, well maintained and reliable. POSITION DESCRIPTION Work level classification LE4-5 The key responsibilities include the following: Coordinate and supervise maintenance of all Australian High Commission (AHC) properties; Liaise with the Canberra-based facilities management contractor and local contractors in regards to work being undertaken for the AHC; Develop and maintain an asset management plan; Develop and maintain inventories of furniture, plant and equipment; Undertake regular inspections of properties and plan for the replacement of worn, damaged or obsolete items in accordance with DFAT procurement rules; Maintain adequate equipment, tools and supplies to facilitate minor maintenance tasks; Manage property related budgets and allocations by preparing plans and estimates and monitoring expenditure; Coordinate property related procurement, shipment and payment processes Maintain the post key register; Assist with property leasing as required; Manage maintenance of the Chancery and Chancery Annex gardens and grounds, including the recreation facilities (swimming pool and tennis court); Manage a small team in the property section including performance management, training and workflow planning; Manage the allocation of fleet vehicles. Monitor vehicle and fuel usage. Allocate drivers and vehicles as required; and Arrange the repair, servicing and maintenance of all fleet vehicles, including the boat. Page 3 of 6 Qualifications/Experience Facilities Management experience; Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks to meet deadlines; Good understanding of building and mechanical terms; Ability to train and mentor staff; Strong computing skills; Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills; Good English language skills; Building or other trade qualifications or experience would be an advantage; A valid driver’s licence for Kiribati (motor cars) with a clean record; Good communication skills are essential. High level interpersonal, oral and written communication skills with an emphasis on liaison, communication and stakeholder engagement 4. Ability to successfully lead a small team to effectively achieve anticipated results. 5. Demonstrated experience in managing Facilities and Property.
