Must be a permanent Classified Employee at MiraCosta College, or
o a Dependent between the ages of 17 – 24 years of a permanent Classified Employee
Classified Staff must be current with the payment of their classified dues
Must include proof of enrollment or intent to enroll in an education program; i.e. course
description, class schedule, etc.
Personal statement required (details below)
First priority will be given to permanent classified staff, followed by dependents
Applicants may reapply each year

PERSONAL STATEMENT
Attach a double-spaced, two page maximum, Personal Statement with your name and ID# at the
top left-hand side. Dependents: include your parent’s name and ID# under your name
Please address the following items:
 Discuss your educational program and how it will enhance your current job or career goals
 Include any activities you are involved with; e.g., clubs, organizations, volunteer service, etc.
 State your financial need and how this scholarship will help you achieve your education goal,
 Include why you think you should be selected for this scholarship

APPLICATION PROCESS








Submit the application and required attachments to the Scholarship office by the deadline time
and date. Late submissions will not be accepted
Application and attachments can be emailed, mailed, or dropped off at the Scholarship office
The MiraCosta Awards & Scholarships Committee will review submissions based on a blind
application process; Classified staff will not be included in the selection process
Selection will be based on meeting the eligibility criteria, proof of enrollment or intent to enroll in an
education program, and the personal statement
In December, the award recipient will be notified by email followed by an award letter
o Non-awardees will be notified by email
Financial Aid recipients may have their financial aid award reduced to accommodate scholarship
dollars, contact the Financial Aid Office for additional information
Proof of enrollment in the stated education program will be required before the award check is
disbursed
Scholarship winner will be recognized at an appropriate college event
TERMS OF AGREEMENT
I realize that it is my responsibility to inform the Scholarship office of any changes to my contact
information.
I hereby authorize the release of this information to the Awards & Scholarships Committee for review.
By submitting this application, I certify that the answers I have given and the material I submitted are
true and correct. If awarded a scholarship, MiraCosta College may release my name to the Chariot
and/or local press.
