LEADER OF THE YEAR - NOMINATION FORM
The ITSMF UK Leader of the Year Award is presented to a senior manager or director who has
demonstrated to colleagues in their organisation that they have achieved, not only an exemplary and
well-rounded level and breadth of knowledge, skill, experience and accomplishment in ITSM, but that
they are also an exceptional strategic leader of people. He or she will be highly regarded by
colleagues and peers not only as an outstanding ITSM professional but as an exceptional leader who
has led people to achieve great results - concerning a specific ITSM project/initiative or ongoing
business performance - through their inspirational leadership and influencing skills. The closing date
for nominations is 31 July 2015.
Entry Criteria
Nominations to be made electronically using this form. All entries to be submitted in English.
Open to members and non-members.
Nominations for this category can be made by colleagues, managers, customers or partners. Self-nominations are
also acceptable.
Evaluation Criteria
Candidates must demonstrate, first, a high level of technical and management acumen in the ITSM area and,
second, outstanding experience and proven performance in the leadership of colleagues and associates. The
winner is likely to be someone who works at Board/director level or in a role that reports in at director level.
Judges will be assessing nominees against the following criteria:
Demonstration of ITSM knowledge/skill/experience:

Level of training & qualifications in ITSM
Breadth of knowledge of different areas of ITSM practice and ITSM frameworks
Breadth of technical knowledge of technology, products, processes, etc
Knowledge of wider business management/commercial topics relating to ITSM (e.g. business strategy,
procurement, sales/marketing)
Demonstration of senior leadership skills

Proficiency in key interpersonal skills (e.g. communication, team management )
Ability to lead and influence others successfully
Evidence of wide knowledge of employer’s organisation (e.g. business strategy, customers, markets,
services) and understanding of how ITSM can support business goals
Several years’ experience in a senior management role
Evidence of nominee’s team achieving/exceeding challenging targets EITHER over a period of at least 2
years in a particular role OR in relation to a specific project/initiative involving ITSM.

Eligibility
 The nominee must be a senior manager working in ITSM (or with significant responsibility for ITSM within a wider
remit).
 The nominated individual must be employed by a UK-based organisation
 Members of the ITSMF UK judging panel are ineligible to enter
Judging
Judging will be undertaken by a group of impartial and unbiased industry professionals nominated by the ITSMF
UK Management Board. All activities will be overseen by members of the ITSMF UK staff.
Prize
The winner of the IT Service Management Team of the Year Award will receive:
 An inscribed trophy
 A framed “Winner” certificate
 Permission to display the award logo (Winner) on all official company stationery and publications until 1st January
2017
 Recognition in all itSMF UK publications that list Award winners, including the website.
The finalists of the IT Service Management Team of the Year Award will receive:
 A framed “Finalist” certificate
 Permission to display the award logo (Finalist) on all official company stationery and publications until 1st Jan 2017

The judges’ decision will be final and no correspondence will be entered into before or after the judging unless
feedback has been requested. itSMF UK is not liable for any costs incurred by applicants during the judging
process.
Each entry will be evaluated by a panel of judges and the finalists will be notified during September. The winner of
the award will be announced at the Awards Dinner. Finalists are expected to be present at the Awards ceremony.
The Awards Dinner will take place during Conference on Monday 23rd November. Awards finalists are eligible to
purchase dinner tickets at the reduced rate of £100 + VAT per person or to book at table of ten for £1000 + VAT.
