The East African region offers massive potential for transport infrastructure expansion and
investment, and with Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda and Rwanda having unveiled grand plans to
build, enhance and expand their infrastructure both nationally and regionally that has helped
to make them one the favoured destination for investments and transformation in the East
African Community (EAC).
East Africa is in need for a good transport infrastructure system that links to stimulate
economic growth and to create job opportunities which in turn calls for an increased role of
the private sector.
However, the regions ongoing efforts to increase intra-regional trade, through the
strengthening of the East African Community (EAC) regional trading bloc, have attracted the
attention of private investors and international lenders, triggering a high demand for efficient
and sustainable transportation systems.
Addressing and Combating these challenges are some of the key aspects revolving around of
the discussions at the “2nd Annual East Africa Transport Infrastructure Projects 2015”
