Stanley Jones-An LCCM Success Story 4 Years ago, a 61 year old man decided that he was going to make a positive impact and give back to those that had helped him. And an LCCM volunteer was born! Stanley’s early life was pretty normal; an athlete throughout high school and a Marine at age 19. But shortly after leaving for Vietnam, things took a turn. Stanley lost his arm during the war, and picked up 45 yearlong addiction to drugs. And after returning home to a less-than-desirable reception, his addiction took over his life. This resulted in 3 prison stays, countless debt, and deep despair. In 2010, Stanley hit bottom. He had no place to stay, no food, no clothes, and too much debt to imagine. Stanley was pointed to Troy Williams from Lebanon County Christian Ministries. LCCM was able to give him very necessary emergency services for the next 3 months, in the form of food and clothing. And over those months, he cleaned himself up, found an apartment, and began a new life. Stanley then decided to give back. He asked LCCM to let him volunteer. He works for our TEFAP program, and is able to tell the clients that walk through the door that, “this place is a ‘BandAid’, not a long term solution.” Stanley firmly believes that you have to deal your consequences, but things will eventually get better as you turn your life around. We are proud to have Stanley as a volunteer for LCCM and spread the true mission of this organization.
