Specifications - fire resistant collars 1. General Fire resistant collars prohibit the propagation of fire through combustible pipes in walls or floors with a fire resistance. An aperture may not influence the fire resistance of the structural element, according the prevailing law. The fire collars are tested according to EN 1366-3 and classified according to EN 13501-2. The fire collars may be installed in/on a - flexible wall 100mm thickness (2x12,5mm GKF + rock wool 40mm 40kg/m³ + 2x12,5mm GKF) - rigid wall 100mm thickness - rigid floor 150mm thickness The classification overview summarizes the approved solutions with indication of the type of wall/floor, the specifications of the combustible pipe with their wall thickness, and the sealing or fixation method. The fire resistance of the fire collars (up to 180’) is available on www.rft.be. 2. Description and functioning The fire resistant collars are available in both cast-in (MG2), as in surface-mounted version (MG2-A). In the event of fire, the expanding material inside the collar (graphite based) is activated and strangles the pipe, thus closing off the apertures and making them fire resistant. 3. Installation The MG2 fire collar is cast into the wall/floor thickness around the combustible pipe. Provide an installation opening that is 50mm larger than the outer diameter of the fire collar and seal with mortar (floor) or plaster (wall). The surface-mounted fire collar is installed around the combustible pipe and fixed with universal screws, or with expander bolts in case of armed concrete. A fire collar is placed on both sides of the wall. For a ceiling/floor, a single MG2-A is on the bottom side of the floor is sufficient. 4. Specifications Cast-in MG2: - Aesthetic and invisible finishing No room is lost at the wall crossing Simple installation Standard tools and sealing “Zero distance” allowed Extensive field of application Maintenance-free Future-proof Surface-mounted MG2-A: - Simple and rapid fixation with standard screws Minimal collar height for a superior flexibility Standard tools, no sealing “Zero distance” allowed Oblique penetration 30° allowed Extensive field of application Maintenance-free Ideal for renovation works Future-proof Rf-Technologies N.V./S.A. - Lange Ambachtstraat 40, B-9860 Oosterzele -www.rft.be - info@rft.be
