Position Description: Church Relations Intern IJM Australia Current: September 2014 – Two positions available The Mission IJM is a global organisation that protects the poor from violence throughout the developing world. IJM partners with local authorities to rescue victims, bring criminals to justice, restore survivors and strengthen justice systems. IJM lawyers, investigators, social workers, community activists and other professionals collaborate with local law enforcement to combat slavery, sex trafficking, rape, police brutality, property grabbing and other forms of violence. The Position International Justice Mission Australia, IJM’s fifth partner office, is an independent Australian organisation that partners with IJM globally to deliver justice programs overseas and grow the movement of Australians seeking justice for the oppressed. One of our objectives is to see the Australian church become famous for its humble and courageous service to victims of violent injustice. We seek professional and energetic interns to contribute to the work of our church relations team. As a Church Relations Intern with IJM Australia you will: Contribute to the development of a system for identifying and capitalising on opportunities to move churches to do justice; Manage responses to church enquiries and develop and maintain relationships with key church contacts and leaders; Serve as a liaison with local churches and IJM Australia key volunteers and teaching team by managing the coordination of speaking engagements and providing the requisite IJM resources and information for the engagement; Depending on capacity and gifting, travel to, attend and/or speak on IJM’s work and biblical justice at external speaking engagements at churches, conferences and exhibitions; Contribute to the development of appropriate church relations resources including talks, bible studies, prayer journals, devotionals and more; Manage process for storing and keeping up to date church relations resources; Provide logistical support in the recruitment, training and development of the IJM teaching and speakers team and IJM Justice Advocates; and Assist in the planning and execution of a national prayer gathering in support of IJM’s casework. Other requirements: This position is based in the Sydney office (unless otherwise arranged) and work hours are from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm on agreed days. Part-time and Full-time positions are available (minimum of 2 days, up to 5 days per week). Overseas applicants are eligible to apply for full-time positions only. A minimum commitment of 4.5 months is required. All IJM Australia internships are unpaid positions.
