Course Information Defensive Driving .The course is designed for the drivers of passenger cars to light vans/trucks and can be taken in a 4, 6, or 8 hour time block. All courses cover the essentials, such as attitude, speed limits & speeding, road rage, DUI, RR crossings, signs, lights, and other markings, control of the vehicle & emergencies. The 8 hr. class covers over 50 topics. *Course content can also be customized to meet the customer’s needs* Defensive Driving for 15- Passenger Vans Our regular 4-Hour DDC has been modified specifically for 15 passenger vans. Due to so many reported accidents in these vehicles special emphasis is placed on the unique problems associated with their handling characteristics. *Course length & content can also be customized* Special Needs Van/Bus Driver Safety This program was designed as a 4 to 8 hr. package for bus and van drivers who handle special needs passengers, such as wheel chairs, blind, or non-ambulatory. The training is amid at drivers & aides who deal with the passengers. Special attention is given to the ADA & its ramifications for these drivers Insurance companies have endorsed the program to help control premiums. Wheelchair Securement & Lift Safety For vehicles transporting wheelchair passengers a certified tie-down specialist should properly secure special needs passengers in public & private transportations. The latest equipment & existing technology are demonstrated in the classroom on mock ups. Vehicle Evacuation In this class students are first introduced to some of the safety equipment needed on the vehicle to facilitate an evacuation. Then they go through an in-depth study of the procedures to safely evacuate ambulatory and non-ambulatory passengers from the I.E. right side up, upside down, on right/left side. This class gives students a must have basic knowledge before moving on to the Emergency Evacuation handson program. Emergency Vehicle Evacuation *Vehicle Evacuation strongly recommended before this course* This Emergency Evac course requires client to provide vehicle for student use. In this course students are given a quick refresher on the basic evacuation equipment & procedures. Students are then taken to the vehicle where they will be given intense “hands on” practice in stimulated emergency situations. Noise & smoke generators are used for various scenarios such as getting stuck on a RR crossing with a train coming, fire on bus. Trainers also use (Helpless Harry), their life-sized fireman’s dummy, to simulate a disabled passenger needing evacuation assistance. Accident Documentation This program is designed to train people responsible for documenting accidents. It covers the forms required by the state, local authorities, responsible agencies, insurance companies, & the client company. The documents are addressed individually as participants are being shown exactly what information is required on each. Another section of the course is devoted to training on how to photograph an accident scene or documenting damage if the vehicles are moved. Customer Relations & Client Sensitivity Customer Relations & Client Sensitivity for the Transit Driver This interactive program is designed to involve the drivers in a discussion of the problems faced by all providers of private or public transportation along w/ different solutions and avenues. Covered topics include: “Sending a positive attitude” “Dressing for the job” “Dealing with Older Passengers” A Day on the Road as a Professional Driver” “Communicating with Passengers with Disabilities” “Dealing with eh Rider’s Family” “Disruptive Passengers” “Physical & Non-Physical Self Defense” And “Things a Driver can and cannot do” Workplace Conflict Avoidance This classroom course covers the basics of conflict prevention & resolution. Includes discussion of meditation, arbitration and resolution. Covers dealing with different personality types during negotiations. Harassment in the Workplace This course covers the legal definition of Harassment including verbal, physical and visual. This interactive program involves the students with examples & discussions. Options are given for solution & the program covers the roles of general staff as well as supervisors. Passenger Service & Safety (PASS) This interactive program is designed to involve the drivers in a discussion of the problems faced by all providers of private/public transportation along with different solutions & avenues. The hands-on sections include a “Blind Walk” and a “Blind Ride” as well as practice with the lifts & tie-downs. Because of the number of topics included in this program the time required to adequately cover the material is a minimum of three (3) 8 hour days. Communication Skills This course offers insight into the knack of getting the material across and making you training time beneficial for everyone. C.P.R. This hands on class is conducted with the use of standard mannequins and “Fat Fred”/ obese mannequin. This course is conducted by ECSI & Red Cross certified Instructors. Blood Borne Pathogens This program includes identification and handling of blood borne pathogens incidents and discusses disease transmitted by bodily fluid contact. The hands on portion of this class address the proper use of universal protective equipment and methods for removal and disposal. This course is conducted by ECSI and Red Cross certified Instructors. Work Place Safety This course can be presented as a 6 or 8 hr. class plus many topics can be used for 1 hour safety briefings.
