Respirator Train the Trainer – Fit Testing
It is the employer’s responsibility to determine the presence of any potential hazards within the work
environment. If harmful airborne chemicals/particles and infectious agents are present, an employer is
required to have a Respiratory Protection Program. Development and implementation starts with a
comprehensive hazard identification and assessment based on your specific organizational needs and
follows with a detailed implementation plan that defines the roles and responsibilities, training
requirements, respirator selection and fit testing protocols & tools that address any potential respiratory
hazards.
Respirator Fit Testing is a vital component of an effective Respiratory Protection Program. Training is the
first step in helping your workforce become better informed and equipped to ensure accurate and efficient
testing protocols and procedures. Designed to provide an enhanced understanding of fit testing through
both theory and practice, participants will be guided through a thorough and comprehensive overview of
the process and technology for respirator fit testing in accordance with the requirements in the newly
revised edition of CSA’s Z94.4 Standard - Selection, Use & Care of Respirators.

Quality Breathing Air for SCBA Administrators
For Fire Service, the use and re-filling of SCBA cylinders is often a daily event. The importance of
providing good quality breathing air for use in SCBA’s requires an understanding of the installation,
inspection and maintenance of breathing air compressors.
Compressed breathing air and systems protect workers engaged in tasks that may affect the quality of
breathing air in their work environment. Compressed breathing air systems refers to the assembly of
various components required to produce and/or deliver compressed breathing air to the user, and
purification systems refers to the device - chemical, mechanical, physical or combination thereof – used to
remove contaminants. These systems must be designed and constructed to work together to help that
purification requirements are met. The fifth edition of Z180.1 helps to protect workers by providing the
minimum requirements for the purity of compressed breathing air supplied to service outlets and for
breathing air systems required to produce, store and distribute such air.
Key Topics




The duties of a SCBA program administrator
What comprises a compressed breathing air system
Critical compressor installation issues
What to look for when visually inspecting different types of cylinders
