UNC Online
Students at other campuses in the UNC system can now register for our Campus
650 courses. I assume that our students can also register for online classes at other
campuses in the UNC system.

Basically, the student uses the system to register for a course at another institution, the student pays
tuition at his/her home institution, and the institution teaching the course gets credit for the SCHs on the
funding matrix. The main site is https://online.northcarolina.edu/. At that site, clicking "Search courses"
takes you here - http://online.northcarolina.edu/unconline/courses.php. The interface has been updated in
the last two weeks.

UNC-General Administration switched UNC Online over to the UNC-Exchange system this past weekend.
The Exchange is the next phase of UNC Online, where, as Clayton has noted, it automates a previously
very manual process - previously, a student at any UNC school could submit a request to another school
to take their online course, which resulted in a manual process to admit, register and notify the student.
The Exchange model does all of this without my staff, Undergraduate Admissions or Graduate
Admissions working on the record. The person is given an ECU Banner Id, as well as Pirate Id (email
account). They are registered in our student information system (Banner), and appear on the faculty
members course roster.
