Dayton Young Women’s Christian Association Culture and Values
Empowering Women and Eliminating Racism
The YWCA continues to advocate for the disenfranchised and embolden women, both nationally and
locally. With 141 years of dedicated service to women, children and communities of color, the Dayton
YW’s culture continues to stand in the gap; being a voice that ensures peace, justice, freedom and dignity
will continue to be the foundation in all decisions and programs that are implemented.
Our programs are centered on providing services to meet the needs in their communities. These include:
domestic violence assistance, shelter assistance, teen and youth services and clinical supportive care.
More importantly, we create communities among women that develop leadership in a supportive
environment, foster diversity and bring about change in advocacy.
The YWCA Dayton is part of an organizational structure that leverages the collective strength of local
associations and the national organization into a unified national movement; joined through the
comprehensive mission of being dedicated to eliminating racism, empowering women and promoting
peace, justice, freedom and dignity for all.
