Announcement of Dual Credit Enrollment
Opportunity for High School Students
FALL 2014
Isle of Wight County Schools has been approved to offer, juniors and seniors, enrolled in a Career and
Technical Education course the opportunity to obtain college credits through Paul D. Camp Community College
(PDCCC). The Dual Enrollment Program offers qualified high school students the ability to receive college
credit at a relatively low cost while they complete their secondary education. It is designed to supplement and
enrich students’ high school experiences by providing access to a collegiate education without interrupting their
normal high school activities.
Students will be taught at their home high school by an approved dual enrollment teacher. The students and the
teacher will not be required to travel to Paul D. Camp Community College for this wonderful opportunity.
Students are allowed to receive PDCCC credits for all courses listed on the attached sheet. The cost of tuition is
$27.63 per credit hour for the Fall 2014 course offerings. Students will need to contact all colleges where they
intend to seek enrollment on the transferability of the PDCCC credits.
The following steps will begin the process of your child registering for dual enrollment:
1. Complete the Paul D. Camp Community College application online, www.pdc.edu – Click on Admissions,
Apply Online, New Users, and then complete the application.
a. Please use your full, legal name on the application.
b. Include your social security number so that you can find your username later if you forget it.
c. Important: Be sure to write down the PDCCC Student ID number as you will need this number
for the placement testing and for the Dual Enrollment College Registration Form.
2. Take the PDCCC college placement test. Sample test questions: http://www.pdc.edu/admissions/placementtesting/ . Contact your high school counselor for information about testing.
A testing waiver will be granted with a submitted copy of a SAT minimum area score of 500 in
Reading/Writing and 520 in Math; PSAT 50 in Reading/Writing or 52 in Math; ACT, 21 in
Reading/Writing and 22 in Math.
3. After completing Step 1 and Step 2, students will be given a Dual Enrollment College Registration Form by
their classroom dual enrollment teacher to return completed and signed by Friday, September 19, 2014.
Students will be required to include their PDCCC Student ID Number on the Dual Enrollment College
Registration Form.
After the completion of the above listed steps, if a student receives a passing grade in their dual enrolled
approved high school course(s), the student will be awarded PDCCC credits and a PDCCC transcript can be
requested. Students have received 80% discount on tuition rates upon successful completion of course.
If you have further questions, please contact your high school counselor.
