NEWSLETTER 16th March 2015 Dear Parents and Carers, We hope all our mums had a fun and enjoyable mother’s day SERVICE OF CELEBRATION ~ This Sunday 22nd March MARYS is holding a service in St Mary’s church at 11am. All are invited to help us celebrate the work we do and the positive impact we have on the lives of people in Islington. This is an open event to people of any faith and as children are an important part of the work we do and a very welcome too. EASTER SERVICE ~ this will be held in the church on Wednesday 25th March at 2pm, if you are able to attend please arrive by 1.50. After the service there will be an Easter egg hunt in the church for your children. All are invited back to the preschool for Easter biscuits CHILDRENS LUNCH ~ We are a nut-free environment so please check all the ingredients of your child’s lunch. If your child stays for lunch a healthy well balanced pack lunch is required. We can heat preprepared meals that you may wish to provide but we must insist that no sweets, crisps, nuts, chocolate and those yoghurts that are just chocolate in a pot or fizzy drinks are permitted: children will not be allowed to consume them. AFTERNOON SNACKS ~ We provide your children with afternoon snacks of fruit, we have also been letting the children consume what is left in their lunch box during this snack time, from now this will not be happening and they will only be allowed to consume fruit that is left in their bags, due to choking hazards and healthy eating we are asking you all to not provide crisps in the lunch bags. CHILDREN BRINGING THINGS INTO PRE-SCHOOL ~ Aside from comfort objects that have already been agreed, It has come to our attention that some children have had sweets and/or toys in their pockets when coming into the setting, please note that these will be removed from your child and when this is done it causes your child to be upset, Sweets are not allowed at all. Toys are allowed only on a Wednesday for show and tell, the toys in the pre-school are for sharing and when children bring in their own toys it is hard for others to understand why they can not play. Should your child be happy to share he/she would then become upset if that toy became damaged so please could you not let your children bring in toys or sweets. BOOK BOX ~ This is left outside the pre-school door and is for you and your child to choose a book to enjoy together at home, this is an early introduction to the children going to school and having reading for homework and helps to establish a good pattern. Please take the time to choose a book with your child. PARENTAL MEETINGS ~ Updates on your Childs progress. This is a great opportunity to share the things your child is doing both in the setting and at home. You will find a grid per key person on the pre-school door, please fill in a time to meet with your key person, DATES TO REMEMBER THIS TERM Last day of term Friday 27th March 2015 Good Friday: 3rd April 2015 th Easter Monday: 6 April 2015 Summer term dates: Monday 13 th April – Monday 20th July, Last day Friday 17th May Day bank holiday: Monday 4 th May Half term 25th – 29th May INSET DAYS Tuesday 5th May & Monday 20th July www.marys.org.uk/pre-school tel: 020 7704 2873
