Media Invitation to Attend Events at 2013 ACVIM Forum
June 12-15 in Seattle, Washington
The 2013 ACVIM Forum features expert presentations for more than 3,000 veterinarians on all aspects of
veterinary internal medicine. Veterinarians, veterinary specialists, technicians and students from around
the world gather to gain insights on key research, attend in-depth presentations on cutting edge diagnosis
topics, and discuss current issues with leading experts.
WHAT: Media representatives are invited to attend the 2013 ACVIM Forum including the following

Animal Survivor Media Event
Thursday June 13th, 9:50 – 11:00 am, Room 310
This media event, an initiative of the ACVIM and the ACVIM Foundation, honors amazing animal
survivors who beat the odds because of advances in veterinary internal medicine. The event features
videos with five amazing stories of four dogs and a horse who overcame their illnesses through the
dedication of their owners, veterinarians and specialists. Three of the dogs and their owners will be onsite.
Keynote Address
Friday June 14th, 10:30 – 11:20 am, Room 6B
Ford W. Bell, DVM, DACVIM (Oncology), the extra-ordinary veterinarian, will deliver the keynote
address, “From Prostate Cancer to Museums: A Veterinary Journey”. Dr. Bell is President and CEO of
the American Association of Museums, and is a Board-certified veterinary oncologist. He has more than
30 years of experience as a nonprofit executive, board chair, donor, trustee, and educator.
One Medicine Scientific Sessions
Friday June 14th, 4 sessions beginning at 2:10 pm and ending at 6:15 pm, Rooms 618-619
One Medicine is a term that acknowledges the fundamental similarities between living species as they
relate to the practice of medicine. Topics at the Forum include areas such as disaster relief and military
medicine.
