Scientific Method- a series of planned steps that scientists use to solve problems
Steps:
1.) Ask a question (what is the problem?)
2.) Form a hypothesis (make an educated guess)
3.) Conduct the experiment or test
4.) Analyze the results (review data to see what happened in your experiment)
5.) Draw a conclusion (was your hypothesis right?)






To use one of more of your senses to identify or learn about an object or event is to observe.
“Data” is facts or information gathered by scientists.
Conclusions tell the results of an experiment and should clearly support or not support a
hypothesis.
“Mass” is the amount of matter an object has (not same thing as weight).
A “hands lens” can make an object appear bigger, but a “microscope” can make it look 100
times bigger.
The “volume” of an object is measured using a graduated cylinder.
