L. Dubin, Mgt 121-Principles of Management Assignment # 4-Decision Making Pick a decision you recently made that had important consequences for you. Maybe it was a decision about what school to attend, what courses to take, what car to buy or if you should take or change jobs. Using the information in Chapter 5 and the Decision Making Steps, analyze the way you made your decision. 1. Identify the criteria you used to guide your decision making, either consciously or unconsciously to guide your decision-making. 2. List the alternatives you considered. Were these all the possible alternatives? Did you consciously or unconsciously ignore some important alternatives? 3. How much information did you have about each option? Did you make the decision on the basis of complete or incomplete information? 4. Try to remember how you reached your decision. Did you make a deliberate choice or did you use intuition? Did you ask for any help in making your decision? 5. Do you think it is possible that you made the wrong decision? Or, are you convinced that your decision was correct? What could you do to improve your decision making in the future? Adapted from Pg. 181 text-Ch. 5
