being a little critical stated none of the Ladies bothered to turn up. But Zone 1 offered
to run the raffle but with men trying to play bowls and look after a raffle is a bit poor
on the ladies part not to turn up to run the raffle. This raises the question with Zone 2


SECRETARY
In the process of drafting our column for the NSW Bowls Magazine need to have in by
31st July which will be done have asked Kevin for his input to our page for the web.
Possible we may have one to two pages.

TREASURER
We have $16,278.56 plus a couple of Cheques which we have here to deposit. They have
not gone in for lack of information on the Cheques. Correspondence from John Mathers
please pass this on to our secretary, also from the Ladies Auxiliary requesting assistance
for a startup ie Prizes Stationary and raffles we request $2,000.00 due to the previous
bank account being closed and all funds being returned to the CMC. If we give monies to
the Ladies Auxiliary we need a better reporting as in monthly or quarterly statements.
The $9,000.00 returned to the CMC was from the Women’s Auxiliary it was requested
that the funds be used at the National Carnival for all the Ladies, who made the decision
it was the former Auxiliary. The money is the CMC for use for our bowlers. Moved Sec.
return the said $9,000.00 as long as it is accounted for monthly cd.

BLUE HEELERS SUPPORT TEAM
We are due for another meeting shortly I have the Blue Heelers sponsorship booklet
which I will give 6 to each Zone if you obtain interest please let us know so we don’t
double up. Need to go to local business ie Bunnings Masters. Looking at holding a BBQ
at Bunnings need volunteers

SELECTORS
The six way challenge was again a success having the (6) teams as against the past couple
of years with (4). Unfortunately we the RSL were out of the running this year with the
Green Keepers association winning the series over (3) days. Due to rain, we were forced
to cut the last days play back to (2) teams each instead of (3) so as to complete the series
undercover with all teams competing together. We had (4) State Selectors on hand,
giving them an initial look leading up to the First State Trail on the 22nd August for
Tasmania. At present we have 40 registered to trail at Maitland City B/C over two days
with a number of new faces to choose from. It is a most exiting period of the year with
our team selectors set to go ensuring everyone has a good chance of selection.

MATCH COMMITTEE REPORT – July 2015
2015 Fours Championships
The Semis and Final of the NSW RSL Fours was played on Thursday 9th and Friday 10th
July at Raymond Terrace BC. It was wonderful to have several of the Zone 6 Executive
and players present on the two days, in addition to the Secretary and Treasurer of CMC
at the final. The weather was kind to us being fine and clear on Thursday afternoon and
the same on Friday morning after the fog/mist was burnt off by the sun.
The results were:
Semi Finals:
 Zone 3 Burwood RSL: A Zulian, J Guerin, G Mandato, T Starr 25 d Zone 7 Urunga: T
Titmuss, B Hardman, P Dorsett , W Fawbert 18
 Zone 8 Tuncurry Beach: K Brand, D Penman, P Schroeder, S Wilson
25 d Zone 19
Wollongong RSL J Bode, R Chapmen, R Smith, T Evans 11
Final:
Zone 8 Tuncurry Beach 28 d Zone 3 Burwood RSL 16
The three games were of a very high standard and were a pleasure to watch. The scores
were not indicative of the closeness of the games, most of the heads were very tight and
often the winning teams scored a single shot.
Results of completed Zone four games, not previously published
 Zone 3 Burwood RSL 31 d Zone 6 Raymond Terrace 13 @ Munmorah B C on 24 June
 Zone 19 Wollongong RSL 24 d Zone 1 Kingsgrove RSL 17 @ Engadine on 24 June

Zone 8 Tuncurry Beach 24 d Zone 4 Dee Why 13 @ Wallsend on 25 June
The participating teams were paid their appropriate prizemoney. We used our presence
at Raymond Terrace to pay the balance of the Triples winning prizemoney to the
Raymond Terrace members. The other Triples semi-final players will be paid ASAP.

Chairman Match Committee

Zone 2
The Zone 2 pairs off to a delayed start on 24th July due to the wet weather on 17th July.
There were 15 teams nominated to play from 8 Clubs. Unfortunately on the day there
were 3 forfeits. The Final can fit within the CMC guidelines of 3rd September, even if
there is another washout before then.
The Venue for the 2016 Dean Oliver remains unsolved. Current preferred options are
Blacktown Sporties (Arndell Park), and Blacktown City B/C. one sticking point is that
the Blacktown City’s green fee of $8.00 per player needs to be negotiated out.

Our next get together is at Grafton on the 24th August, straight after the State trials so
don’t be scared to contact me for a game if you are traveling back or no holidays in the
area. Our Zone pairs have now been run and won, with the winners being Warwick
Fawbert (woz) and Peter Dorsett (dorso) for the third year running.
Congratulation to our fours team of Woz, Dorso, Earring and Tango for making the semifinal of the state four playoff also congratulation to Zone 8 on their effort to win the title.
We are nearing the time to pick our Old Bar Shield team to defend the shield against
Zone 8 who are still hurting after losing the title last year. The first time 12 years.
Till next time good health and good bowling.

Zone 19 11 June
Zone 19 hosted the four playoff at Figtree RSL Bowling Club
between Zone 3 (Burwood RSL) and Zone 20 (Nowra). Both teams remarked
just how well the green was prepared and of course the weather was just as
perfect. The game was very entertaining with Zone 3 winning on the final end
when Zone 20 skip moved the kitty and lost the game.
17 June Zone 19 held its bi monthly committee meeting. The draw for the
2015 pairs competition was conducted with 13 teams participating. First round
to begin on 16 July.
24 June Zone 19 fours team travelled to Engadine Bowling Club by the RSL
bus to play off against Zone 1 in the quarter final. We were made very
welcome at Engadine and again the weather was very kind. Our team were the
winners to proceed to the semi-final.
9 July
Zone 19 fours team of Neil Cropp, Roy Chapman, John Bode and
Tony Evans travelled by RSL bus with Ian Callaway as driver and spectator to
Raymond Terrance to play off the semi-final against Zone 8. Everything went
very well except that Zone 19 lost to Zone 8 25-11. All the same we are
extremely happy that our bowlers advanced to compete in the semi-final.
16 July 10 teams will be participating in the first round of the Zone 19
pairs. Other rounds will be held on 23, 30 July with the final competed on 6th
August.

GENERAL BUSINESS
Secretary asked who wish a Hat Band or Pocket Patch no one has Blazers any more. Invoice for
badges from Elite Pins International Cherry Huang. Draft for successful and unsuccessful we are
staying at Ashwood Motel.
Social Bowlers are we having a discussion on Social Bowlers as we received a memo from Greg
Helm anyone looking a Social Bowls may be pulled out of the State Affiliation. The Royal put a
levy on each Club for how many members you have back to May but they are not allowing
Social Bowlers but asked what about Bear Foot and new beginners most club are now two tier
membership players who wish not to play Pennants or Championships the Royal want this cherry
as well. We have two alternatives (a) sub-branch member (b) a Bowling Club member doesn’t
say full Royal Bowling member, we may have a person who doesn’t wish to play Pennants or
Championships because of work commitments but plays RSL bowls he is still eligible to play.
When the Sixty Dollars was put up the situation blow up, instead of charging each club per
member a levy back to May will be charged and increased by 3% each year they are talking
about this, have heard that some Zones are not happy with this, one of our Club has put out a
memo in their news letter that they are only going to play social only which there are RSL
members their this what the Royal has said no social bowls only person to step on your greens
has to be a full member of the Royal, but they don’t own the club or greens. One club doesn’t
agree with this and have lost 24 full members but they are still social bowlers we need our social
bowlers in our clubs. The State will remain under the Royal as per our constitution.
Item in byelaws states out of pocket expenses to be accompanied by receipt stayed overnight for
semi-final and final of fours as Umpire and Controlling Body am I able to claim overnight stay.
Normally I don’t ask for petrol or other days that I am present, this is the first time I have had to
stay overnight.
They’re being no further business the meeting closed at 12.40pm
Next meeting to be held on the 25th August 2015 at Club Burwood at 10.30
