WELCOME to TSAS Pre-K/Kindergarten Families!
Summer, 2015
Dear Families,
I am looking forward to being your child’s Pre-K/Kindergarten
teacher at Tongass School of Arts and Sciences! The Pre-K kids will attend
school from 11:50 to 3:40, while the Kindergartners will attend from 9:10 to
3:40. Our program includes music, reading, P.E., writing, science, math,
and art. Our yearlong theme is “Animals Abound All Around,” and the
concept we focus on is “Similarities and Differences.” I’ve been teaching
more than 20 years, and this will be my 13th year at TSAS (but I’m still
young at heart!) It is a joy to help my students explore, discover, imagine
and learn. I’m always amazed at how much each child grows in his or her
first or second year of school!
As your child’s first teacher and parent, you will continue to play an
important part in your child’s education. You are always welcome to come
into our classroom to volunteer, to participate in an activity, or to eat lunch
with your kiddo. We will have some “Being There Experiences” (field trips)
and will need chaperones. Each trimester we will have a Celebration of
Learning in our classroom, so you can find out what your child has been
learning. You won’t want to miss the COLs!
Pre-K and Kindergarten screening will be on August 26th and 27th. I
will call you in August to make an appointment for the half-hour long
screening (checking on some letter/number/small motor/speaking skills.)
Wednesday, August 26th: Screening (your appointment time only)
Thursday, August 27th: Screening (your appointment time only)
Friday, August 28th: Kindergartners & Pre-K attend school!
If you have questions, please feel free to call me at 617-5882 or send
an e-mail to me at carol.stanton@k21schools.org. You can also read more
on our website: tongassschool.org.
I look forward to getting to know your family. Let’s work together to
make it a successful and wonderful year for your Pre-K or Kindergarten kid!
