items are being sold during lunch but will not be delivered until the end of 8th
period so that it is not competing with lunch foods or going against our wellness
policy. NO further discussion. Vote: Unanimously approved.
b. Yankee Candle Fundraiser: Mrs. Niver – Due to the cost of State Conference
being so high next year, wanting to bring in a speaker for the school next year,
and wanting to pay for a class competition award, we need to complete a
fundraiser. We would like to sell Yankee Candles. NHS made nice money at
Christmas and has offered us the sale for the spring. Riley Kitchen motioned to
sell Yankee candles in April. Mikayla Feil seconded. No further discussion. Vote:
Unanimous approval.
B. T-Shirt Sales: Natalie reminded everyone that t-shirts were still available for purchase.
If not purchased, they may be used for prizes for the student body.
C. Lead Conference: Natalie Mee and Darcy Warriner shared that they had a great time at
the LEAD Conference where they learned of more efficient ways of running meetings,
hold fundraising activities, and teaching leadership skills. Two of the three speakers
were excellent, but it was a lesson learned in the importance of making sure speakers
for conferences are quality (i.e. get references). We will teach what was learned at our
Monday leadership meetings.
D. PA Student Advocacy Summit: There is still one spot available for the summit if anyone
is interested (February 20). This is no cost to the council. Breakfast and Lunch are the
only fees for participants.
