Call meeting to order by President Natalie Mee at 2:35pm. 2. Student Council Officers’ Report: A. President’s report: Natalie Reported on the pre-sales of the Crush notes are going well. People who are signed up to sell during lunch MUST be there and the money box must stay at the selling table under a monitored eye or be in the main office. B. Vice Presidents report: Riley Kitchen stated there was nothing new to report. C. Treasurer’s report : Jessica Smith reported that we made $106 for the dance after paying the dj $300. D. Secretary’s report: Sarah Huck introduced herself and stated there was nothing to report that was new. She is learning what needs to be done as a secretary of Student Council. 3. Class Officers’ Report A. Class of 2014: There was no representative in attendance. B. Class of 2015: There was no representative in attendance. C. Class of 2016: Alexa Singer stated there was nothing new to report for the sophomores other than the candy sale was cancelled. D. Class of 2017: Jake and Alden reported they had nothing new to report. They need to complete a fundraiser. Other Organizations A. Connectors: No report was given. B. FFA: Stephanie Leister reported that next week is dress-up week and student council is working with the FFA to award class competition points. C. FOR: Daelynn Christman reported that the video was going to be presented in March to the student body, that a proposed STING Week was in the works and that they wanted to use the Christmas kindness chain during that time. D. Yearbook: No representative was present. E. Spirit Club: Cheyenne Patterson stated that spring sports signs are being completed. F. Others: No other group presented. 5. Committee Reports A. OC-5: Natalie Mee reported that brownie sundaes would be held next Friday during tutorial. Members would need to sign-up for Brownies and helping during tutorial. There was an estimate of almost 300 sundaes needed. It would honor 1st and 2nd nine weeks Honor Roll members. Only one sundae would be given per group. B. Class competition: Sarah Huck is updating the sign and will add in the points for the FFA Week participants. C. Court warming: Maddy Kyle stated that it went ok. Faby Chacon Rivas was queen and Nick Marple was king. The dance had about 70 people in attendance. There were not enough black lights. If we are going to offer a blacklight dance, Student Council may want to invest in a light set. D. District conference bid: Darci Warriner announced that the bid theme changed due to Nationals being the same idea of investigation last year. It is now a Cowboy theme and she is asking for Cowboy stuff by Friday, February 14. E. Youth Advisory Committee: Riley Kitchen reported the meeting went well. They are seeking to extend breakfast hours from 7:30 – 3rd period. F. Yuda Bands: James Mundy stated they are trying to get the team leaders together to hold the training conference meeting with Krysta Whiting for Thursday. We also need definite pricing. G. Hush Day: Riley Kitchen reported everything for Hush day is set. They just need to be placed in mailboxes. 6. Old Business A. Fundraisers: a. Natalie brought up the Crush day sale that she is running, but realized approval hadn’t been given. Darci Warriner motioned to approve selling Crush soda bottles with a Valentine message for $5. Sara Bump seconded. NO further discussion. Vote: Unanimously approved. b. Yankee Candle Fundraiser: Mrs. Niver – Due to the cost of State Conference being so high next year, wanting to bring in a speaker for the school next year, and wanting to pay for a class competition award, we need to complete a fundraiser. We would like to sell Yankee Candles. NHS made nice money at Christmas and has offered us the sale for the spring. Riley Kitchen motioned to sell Yankee candles in April. Mikayla Feil seconded. No further discussion. Vote: Unanimous approval. B. T-Shirt Sales: Natalie reminded everyone that t-shirts were still available for purchase. If not purchased, they may be used for prizes for the student body. C. Lead Conference: Natalie Mee and Darcy Warriner shared that they had a great time at the LEAD Conference where they learned of more efficient ways of running meetings, hold fundraising activities, and teaching leadership skills. Two of the three speakers were excellent, but it was a lesson learned in the importance of making sure speakers for conferences are quality (i.e. get references). We will teach what was learned at our Monday leadership meetings. D. PA Student Advocacy Summit: There is still one spot available for the summit if anyone is interested (February 20). This is no cost to the council. Breakfast and Lunch are the only fees for participants. 7. New Business A. Miss Molly Needed: Mrs. Doud in the Cafeteria was seeking girls to dress up as Miss Molly (cow) to visit the Elementary schools for promoting dairy. Volunteers were requested. Cheyenne Patterson, Katey Pacific, and Rosemarie Worrell volunteered to go. B. Prom and Semi-Formal Gown Sale: Northern Tioga asked Wellsboro StuCO to participate in a gown swap/sale. Katey Pacific motioned to participate in the tri-School sale, Sarah Ingerick seconded. No further discussion. Vote: Unanimous approval. C. Constitution: Anyone wishing to have input to corrections to the Constitution, we will begin the process. See Natalie. The executive committee will bring it to the council with revisions in the near future. D. Teacher Appreciation: Shyann Foreman would like to complete Teacher’s Appreciation week with candy and a pancake breakfast for the faculty and staff the first week of May. Homecoming: We need to start looking at dates and themes for next year’s homecoming. Riley Kitchen suggested World Cities or Around the World. Natlie told people to come with ideas to next month’s meeting. F. Further Information a. Spring Fling: Rose Worrell and Katey Pacific are co-chairing a week to recognize Spring activities. They would like to try different types of dress-up days. Riley Kitchen suggested the idea of Cowboys and Aliens as one day.
