Australia Awards Scholarships – Bhutan Intake Commencing 2016 Priority fields of study The priority fields of study identified for Intake 2016 reflect the development needs of Bhutan and priorities agreed between the Australian government and the Royal Government of Bhutan (RGOB). They align with Australia’s bilateral aid program and regional objectives. Applicants must apply for only one field of study to which their parent agency nominates them for. Applicants can submit two university preferences in their applications. Applicants are encouraged to carefully consider study programs and institution preferences before applying. The Australian government and the RGOB will not entertain any changes to these after the application closing date. 1. However, if applicants have completed a three-year Bachelor degree, an additional one year full-time Post Graduate Diploma or Certificate is normally required to be considered equivalent to an Australian Bachelor Degree, with the exception of degrees from very reputed universities/institutions in the region. Ed) degree from Bhutanese Institutions must possess an additional one-year full time Post Graduate Diploma in a relevant area/subject to be considered equivalent to an Australian Bachelor degree. c) Applicants with MBBS qualification from certain countries may not be accepted by the Australian Universities/Institutions. Hence, applicants are advised to seek clarification with the Australian universities/institutions before they submit their scholarship application. 2. Applications from eligible women, members of ethnic communities/traditionally marginalised groups and persons with a disability are strongly encouraged Female Applicants The objective is that at least 50% of the awards will go to female applicants. Family members can join female awardees, but certain conditions apply- see the Scholarships Policy Handbook. Accommodation is secure. Children can access free public education in Australia and childcare facilities are available (on payment basis) if required.
