Prime Time Emmy Awards
Coming off the tail end of the Video Music Awards just the night before stars gear up
for yet another (and more prominent) award show tonight. It’s none other than the
Prime Time Emmy Awards! See what hit and what missed on this years red carpet!
It wasn’t just the red carpet that made its annual debut. Red was clearly the “it”
color at the Emmy’s tonight. “Orange is the New Black” star Uzo Aduba poses in this
stunning red sweetheart neckline mermaid gown. Gorgeous.
“Modern Family” star Sofia Vegara came solo to the awards this year in a plunging
structured white fitted dress.
Hayden Panettiere from her show “Nashville” showed off her baby bump in this
shinning silver v-neck gown.
Claire Danes was also apart of the famous red dress club tonight in this unique
chiffon dress with built in wreath neckline. I’m not sure if I love the wreath or not.
It’s not quite Christmas, so there’s not need to deck the halls quite yet Claire.
“Scandal” star Kerry Washington prowls the red carpet in this leopard piped
dressed. Orange is certainly not the new black Kerry. And, what is going on
underneath the slit in your dress? Are those leopard Spanx you’re wearing? Los
Angeles is a concrete jungle, not an actual one.
Kaley Cuoco-Sweeting waves hello in this modern red and pink valentine’s day gram
of a dress. I love the bodice, but something feels like it’s missing. Maybe she needed
bigger hair for this? I’m not even sure if she feels comfortable in her own shoes--urr,
I mean, dress.
Ahh! Lena Dunham stop it! I love you Lena. You’re so smart and talented and
fearless and tacky… I’m sorry, but this is not okay. You cannot leave the house in half
of your old catholic school girl uniform and a ruffled comforter from the girls section
of Target. You just can’t. You are smarter then this. Don’t listen to the dime store
Pygmalion that is your “stylist”. I will say though, you’re killing it with the platinum
hair!
Christina Hendricks obviously felt a need to express her inner pageant queen
tonight in this hideous red mess. I know Halloween hasn’t quite begun but, did you
pull this out of a bag marked “torch singer goes up in flames” from the Halloween
aisle of Rite Aid?
Zooey Deschanel is no “New Girl” to the red carpet. Tonight she channels her inner
Chanel and Marilyn and pulls it off. I love her bangs pulled off to the side showing
her adorable little face. This hot pink strapless dress and silver shoes are just
perfect, just like her.
Smile for the birdy won’t you January Jones? She is all business just like this epic red
and black dress. Give me a modern couture hoop skirt and a train any day. Va-voom!
Michelle Dockery shows us what elegant color blocking looks like. I think this gown
is lovely. It reminds me of origami and what flight attendants might wear to the
their executive annual gala if there were such a thing.
Sarah Hyland looks picture perfect in this mid-drift showing outfit. She looks
adorably fresh and perfect for her age. As simple as this is, it’s one of my favorite of
the night. It’s fitting to her personality, age and style.
Kelly Osbourne curtsies in some kind of tablecloth dress for us. Um, aren’t you
supposed to be a guru of style? Maybe she’s having an off day. It can happen. Maybe
all of the other good dresses had been snatched up already. She’s busy. I get it.
Sometimes you gotta just let it slide.
Funny woman Melissa McCarthy shows us why wearing a full gown of black tulle
isn’t always your friend. It just feels like she’s on her way to a Victorian funeral.
She’s so beautiful and light hearted, I don’t think black fluff is really her color.
Katharine Heigl brings back classic old Hollywood glamour with this antique white
satin gown. It fits her beautifully and shows off all of her curves in all of the right
ways. With her hair up and pulled back Katharine wows on the red carpet.
Lizzy Caplan looks athletic and sleek in this black and white gown. You can tell she’s
got something brewing behind those dark eyes. I have a feeling she might go home
with something more than just the best dressed list.
Allison Williams looks bright and happy in this modern ball gown. I love the pop of
neon yellow in the sash and full off-white skirt.
Sarah Paulson kills it in this creature that has surrounded her tonight. Her dress
looks alive, like something from Beetlejuice. I’m in love with it.
Mayim Bialik must have felt her inner royal tonight in this confusing blue lace gown.
The color is all wrong and the pattern/lace is overwhelming. I’m surprised she’s not
wearing a crown. She’s certainly sporting the hair style for it.
Laura Prepon looks mesmerizing in the green and blue gown. With only half of a
dramatic collar and peplum this is one part vintage and one part all her own.
Taryn Manning wears a gold pleated gown resembling something of an Emmy
herself. I will say, sometimes it’s good luck to wear gold to the Emmy’s. If you look
like one, maybe you’ll bring one home? That’s what I did this year and it worked!
That’s me winning my second Daytime Emmy this year. (below)
Keke Palmer sashes onto the red carpet in this dramatic blue mermaid dress with
low neckline and sweeping train. She’s positively glowing and why shouldn’t she be?
This dress deserves it’s own parade!
Last but certainly not least, Teyonah Parris is summer in a gown in this bright
yellow fitted skirt, train and stripped pink, white and black strapless top. I love the
hair up, the glowing skin and the over all happiness that she has. Shine on girl!
