Recommendations for Placement of Students in Honors and AP Level Courses A student recommended for placement in an honors level course who has not previously been in honors course(s) meets the following criteria: A and 2 of the 3 listed under B A. Recommendation from the current content area teacher AND B. 1. Achievement of a high level of proficiency (240 or above) on state and/or district standardized tests 2. A minimum of A- in the content area course this year 3. A score of 7 or better on the NJASK 8, HSPA or district writing assessment A student presently in honors who is being recommended to continue in honors next year meets the following criteria: A and 2 of the 3 listed under B A. Recommendation from the current content area teacher AND B. 1. Achievement of a high level of proficiency (240 or above) on state and/or district standardized tests 2. A minimum of B or higher in the current honors course this year 3. A score of 7 or better on the NJASK 8, HSPA or district writing assessment A student who is being recommended for an Advanced Placement course for next year meets the following criteria: A and 2 of the 4 listed under B A. Recommendation from the current content area teacher AND B. 1. Achievement of a high level of proficiency (240 or above) on state and/or district standardized tests 2. A minimum of B or higher in the current honors course this year 3. A score of 7 or better on the NJASK 8, HSPA or district writing assessment 4.
