GRADE 6
In order for students to qualify for Grade 6 Pre-Algebra
Advanced Honors, students must satisfy ALL of the
following criteria.
1. Minimum score of 95% on at least 2 STAR
mathematics assessments
2. Superior performance on the district prognosis test
3. Final grade of A+ in grade 5 mathematics.
4. Teacher recommendation
5. Score of 275 or higher on May 2012 NJASK
Additionally, once a student is placed according to the
above criteria, the student must demonstrate superior
performance on quarterly assessments to maintain this
level.
2013 – 2014 Grouping Procedures
GRADE 7
In order for students to qualify for Grade 7 Algebra
Advanced Honors, students must satisfy ALL of the
following criteria.
1. Minimum score of 95 % on at least 2 NWEA
mathematics assessments
2. Superior performance on the district prognosis
test
3. Final grade of A+ in grade 6-Level 1 Accelerated
Math.
4. Teacher recommendation
5. Score of 275 or higher on May 2012 NJASK

In order for students to qualify for Grade 8 Geometry
Advanced Honors, students must satisfy ALL of the
following criteria.
1. Minimum score of 95% on at least 2 NWEA
mathematics assessments
2. Superior performance on the district prognosis test
3. Final grade of A+ in Algebra 1 (Students would
need to attend a summer-school Algebra 1 course
in order to qualify with this pre-requisite course.)
4. Teacher recommendation
5. Score of 275 or higher on May 2012 NJASK

Students who do not qualify for any of the above academic levels will be placed in a level 2 mathematics course.
In order to maintain a current level of placement, students must maintain a final grade of C+ or higher AND teacher recommendation in the present course.
All placements are subject to review by the building principal and department supervisor.
Level changes will not occur during the school year. All placements are conducted at the end of the school year based upon the student’s performance from the full
year.
